Feeling fat

Hello to all of you. I'm struggling at the moment with feeling like I have not lost weight. I can't really explain it but it's like I feel the same in my body as I did before I lost 14kgs. I'm nearly at the weight where I stop losing weight it's like a barrier. Any advice?

It sounds like your weight is at a plateau. Look up weight plateau an that should give you some insight.3

Feeling the same in your body doesn't mean your body isn't changing. A lot of people still feel fat even when they've become slimmer, because they haven't yet adjusted their mindset to correspond with their new lighter selves. Just because you plateaud at a certain weight before doesn't mean it will happen this time. If it does, though, try adjusting your goals to lose a bit less over time (eg set weekly loss at .5lb instead of 1lb), and keep powering through. Getting over the hump can be as much psychological as it is physical.3

I don't know that feeling has anything to do with the scale. Sometimes I just wake up feeling fat - it has nothing really to do with what is on the scale. It's a mental thing,3

I feel that way around TOM-- be good to yourself, wear something comfortable that you like, Do your hair... whatever makes you feel cared for. Keep on logging1

Weight loss is an objective number measured on scale. Whether you "feel fat" is NOT a valid indicator of weight loss. You need stick with your plan and focus on the ACTUAL results you've achieved so far, not how you "feel". I hope this doesn't sound mean because that's not how I intend it. Just want to shake you a little bit and help you clear up your "head space".3

I have struggled with that, it seems, my entire life.
I esd the only one that wasn't thin growing up, so I was therefore FAT. So when I actually got fat, my body was catching up with my self image.
In my 20's yto early 30's I was bulimic.
Got down to 155# and still thought I was fat.
Still struggle today. But not with an eating disorder.
I work for a China based company and spend up to 2 months at time.
They are quite open about body shaming people4 -
You can lose weight at any age, and you don't need to lose all the weight to feel better. I've lost 31 kg since I turned 60. I've found it to be difficult but rewarding. For years I ignored advice to set small goals, do it slowly etc and my weight ballooned as a result. I changed my attitude. Now, every morning I would wake up and congratulate myself on my continuation of my lifestyle change and being a day closer to my goals, whereas I used to wake up and beat myself up about being fat, unattractive etc. I still have about 15 kg to go.3

"Feeling fat" often is how one's brain translates feeling bad, feeling stupid, feeling ashamed, feeling ugly, feeling insecure, feeling needy, feeling unworthy. Tons of women who are definitely, measurably, objectively not fat feel fat sometimes.
Know you're not alone, know this is commonplace, know that you need more love, peace, and serenity, not more food.
Often objective records help. Logging every day - something satisfying, an accomplishment, reassurance that you're on the right track! Measurements - I thought I was bigger than I was, as I'd managed not to adjust my self-image as I got smaller. Benchmark accomplishments - I can tie my shoes without feeling like I'm squashed so I can't breathe! I can take the stairs without getting winded! I am up to X steps a day / this week! My pants are loose!1 -
Thankyou so much that all makes so much sense. I'm still going and feeling a bit lighter this week.0

Wow that's great and only 15kgs to go. You are an inspiration.0 -
That's an awesome loss! It took my head a while to catch up with my body when I lost my weight. Give yourself some time to adjust. One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is when they are only partway through their journey they continue to wear the same clothes. I don't know if you are doing this but if you are it's a bad idea. First of all no one notices and second you feel sloppy which in our heads translates to fat. What I did because I didn't have a bunch of money was go to a consignment store and buy good quality second hand things. Celebrate the progress you've made!2
