Weight changes and lifting

Seems obvious but if my weight goes up in conjunction with my ability to lift higher weights and more reps and ability to do more pushups—- that means I’m gaining muscle right?

Not necessarily. Strength gain is also a function of neuromuscular adaptation - your nervous system becomes more efficient at recruiting your muscle fibers (fiber recruitment) and more efficient at sending the bioelectrical impulses to your muscles (rate coding). It can also be a function of increased proficiency/better form in doing the lifts/movements.
So the answer is a definite maybe.7
