Maintenance Looms!

Went to the doctor's for my yearly physical -- down 126 lbs from last year at this time, and around 40 since the last time I saw her for back pain in the spring. Asked her what my goal weight should be: told her I was planning on getting to 140 then reassessing whether I wanted to go further or not. She did some calculations and said, "140 is the bottom of the range I'd like to see for you. 150 would probably be ideal. Heck, down to skin and skeleton you'd probably come in at 115!" Was not expecting to find myself less than ten pounds from my goal, but thrilled to hear it!

Gotta admit maintenance kinda scares me -- I feel very comfortable with my eating plan at this point, second nature, and the two previous times I got down 100lbs+ near a healthy weight I've blown it and gained it back. I refuse to do that this time, so trying to gear myself up thinking maintenance is no different than what you're doing now, just with bigger numbers.

But, anyway, felt like sharing cuz I'm happy to be almost there! Tracking on MFP and all the support of the community has really made a great difference this time through, and I'm determined to hang in there tracking from here on out through my life! Yay!

Congratulations! Remember, maintenance isn't really all that different from losing. Just a few (probably 250-400) calories more. Keep logging if you need to. A lot of us do/will log our food in maintenance to avoid just what you've had happen in the past

I plan to add a couple hundred calories a day for a week at a time to figure out my maintenance calories, but I will definitely take the MFP suggestions under advisement.
