My husband is sitting for the MCAT on Friday (... read "grueling 5 hour exam")

does anyone know of non wheat snack type foods that he can bring with him that will help with brain function / exhaustion.

....anyone who has been there done that or just knowledgeable about food is much appreciated

    When I took my PhD exams (a 72-hour exam), the following were most helpful: almonds, blueberries, bananas, WATER (so important to stay hydrated).

    Good luck!!

    Anything with a high glucose content (essentially simple sugars)

    That could be tablets, chocolate, Lucozade etc.

    Brains likes carbohydrates. I'd go with complex carbs.

    Exactly this. Omega 3, 6, and 9. Flax seed oil. You can get it at most health food stores. Mix it in with a tasty drink of some sort and he's good to go. Or, as the above poster said, you can get "Omega 369" in pill forms... but would he get busted for taking a "performance enhancing drug"?? :laugh:

    OThank you for the replies and well wishes (& giggles)

    we take omegas as part of our regular supplements.... :wink:

    I was mostly wondering about the during exam snacks. I was thinking lore glycimic foods to avoid the high/low crash cycle

    complex carbs and nuts are probably the way to go in this case.

    ...and maybe that dark chocolate for the last snack break

    thanks again!! ::drinker:
