Do you guys log cooking and cleaning for your exercise?

I've never thought of doing that, but just now noticed that they're options on the exercise log.

Wondering if you think those things really count towards exercise?

no, it's only exercise if your heart rate increases. (imho)

Not usually, but today I actually did. I work at a car dealership/garage, and we are having a big party Friday and I had to mop this room. It is huge and I had to scrub pretty hard on most of it. On parts I even had to use a scotch bright pad to get spots off. It took me two and a half hours, but I log light cleaning for an hour.

I usually just figure that house cleaning is part of my normal daily activity.

I log light cleaning if I have done it for more than 10 minutes. Cooking - nope.

i do for major cleaning. for ex, last week i spent around an hour vacuuming and mopping the whole house. and i was sweaty. so i counted it as 100 cal burned (from a mayo?? website). i'd err on the lesser calories possible so as not to fool myself into thinking i can eat so much more!
but for everyday cleaning, taking care of kids, etc...no b/c that's already accounted for in my activity level calculations. hth

Usually no but I clean like crazy so I should. I think we forget all we do all day that counts as calories burnd. I for one do not sit at all all day...

no. that should be included in your daily activity level (i.e. sedentary, lightly active, etc.)
unless you're raising your heart rate or breaking into a sweat...?
  • I don't count them because I figure it is part of our daily routines.

Thanks everyon! It didn't make sense to me to count them.
  • I don't, unless I'm doing some MAJOR heart-pumping cleaning.
