If I use a synced FitBit, should I also be adding in my workouts to MFP?

I use a FitBit Alta HR, which I wear 100% of the time. It is now synced to MyFitnessPal so it adds in calories based on excessive steps, etc. Before I synced it, I was manually adding in my workouts. I burn 400-500 calories for each 9Round class I go to. Should I also be adding this into MyFitnessPal or would it be double counting since it's already synced to my FitBit (which only seems to add about 250-300 calories for my workout). Thanks!

No, you'll be doubling up if you do. If a Fitbit estimate of calories burned seems low, it probably means that MFP overestimates. Fitbit uses the HR monitor to roughly work out how many calories you burn in a workout, and I have found that, with my Charge 2 HR permanently synced, my calories in MFP are pretty spot on.
I have set my base calories to my BMR (in my case 1500 cals), and I think my profile is set to lose 0.5kg (1lb) a week. Following that has given me slow but consistent loss whilst eating back my exercise cals.1 -
Actually - you will NOT double up unless you enter am on a pm workout, or vice-versa.
You can make a manual entry on Fitbit (preferred for slight improvement on calorie burn calculation) for workouts that HR would cause inflated calorie burn on (lifting, intervals), or on MFP.
In either case - Fitbit is a replace only system, not additive.
You could keep adding workouts with same time/duration and only the last one will be in the daily total. The others will remain for viewing, but the stats, if replaced (like distance gone along with calories), will not be included in the daily totals used for anything.
You manually enter something, the start & duration time required causes Fitbit to replace that chunk of time with your calorie burn info in the daily stats. And distance if that type of workout.
Same if a workout syncs over from any number of places, Strava, MFP, MMR, ect.
That being said - usually no need to add a steady-state aerobic exercise workout to either system.
On MFP - if you want friends list to see it - just make a wall post about the workout.1 -
Thanks, that's helpful!0
