Looking for Encouragement

I lost 30 lbs about five years ago, and I felt amazing. Over the last year, due to poor food choices and lack of exercise, I gained back 20 lbs of that. I’m embarrassed by that because I know it was my doing. Tomorrow, September 23, 2018, I am stating my journey again. I’m making a commitment to myself to get back to eating better and doing my workouts five days a week. I’m a 42 year old female. I’d love to find a support system here. That kind of encouragement is what helped me on another app five years ago. I know I can do this since I did it before. My problem is not getting discouraged when I miss a workout or have a bad day with my eating. I’ve been getting discouraged and then nosediving into emotional eating and then not working out.
I have a desk job so I bought an under-desk elliptical bike. I’m looking forward to using that during the day in addition to my workouts at night. I have to do evening workouts because I will not get up early to workout. I know this about myself so i don’t try to fool myself.
I look forward to reading everyone’s posts and gaining encouragement from the journey that we are all on together. Thank you for listening (or reading as the case may be lol)

Hi! Thanks for the friend add. I just accepted it. I’m excited about this journey. I’m over halfway through the first day and so far have stuck to my calorie goal. I’ll take the small victories to start! How far along are you and how much are you trying to lose?0

Lost 50lbs about 2.5 years ago, tracking calories but no regular exercise. Started gaining it back when the holidays came around, and ended up gaining it all back and more. Got some bad test results last March and decided it was time to get busy living or get busy dying. Started tracking my food on mfp again, and regular exercise 6 days a week. Dropped 92lbs in a year. With some illness, injury, and life circumstances, I’ve hit a bit of a plateau over the past 6 months, but still slowly losing. Down 100lbs now. Still have 75lbs to go, and I’m determined. For me, although discouraged after gaining that initial weight back, it also encouraged me - it meant I knew I was capable of losing the weight, and what I needed to do to get there. For years at 300+ and 350+lbs, I thought “there’s no way I can ever lose the weight.” But that first round showed me I could. I knew I wouldn’t go to a gym, or follow someone else’s diet. If I couldn’t do it at home, and do it eating “real people” food, it wasn’t going to happen. Even when I hit the plateaus, I’m determined not to go back. It can be done, and you can do it.0

Hi Starkspot. Your message reminds me a lot of myself. I realize that I can lose the weight because I did it about six years ago. I’m also the same as you in that if I can’t do it at home and with real people food then it isn’t going to happen. I don’t belong to a gym. I do have a workout bench and weights that I use while watching TV. Working out is very boring to me but if I can do it while watching a good show then the time flies by and I enjoy the workout more. Also, the last time I lost, I didn’t cut out any of the food I lost. I just used moderation and tracked my calories on here. That’s what I’m planning to do again since it worked so well the first time. I am looking forward to this journey and determined to surprise my doctor at my next six month check up. We can do this!!! The amount of weight that you have lost is also very encouraging! You got this!0
