I am a stress eater and unemployed which is a deadly combination. I find myself mindlessly eating, feeling guilty about eating which just triggers more eating and stressing about my weight which leads to more eating.

Any tips/motivation/suggestions/anything for dealing with stress eating?

I am sorry. I have no answers (yet). What I can offer is friendship...I am dealing with the same problem. I am an emotional eater. I was doing very fine until I went through the what I call the "deadly 3_. I lost a job, a husband and a house in the same year. This equates to "eat, eat and more eat". I am still unemployed and I eat, although I am a full time student and I am trying to make strides to get my life on track. I get stressed over school...I eat. I am stressed about raising a 13 year old by myself...I eat. When I'm depressed...I eat. When I'm bored...I eat! Ugh!

I started trying to find things to occupy my time. I joined a few volunteer websites and I'm waiting for them to return my call. I ordered a subscription to the Playhouse in the Park in an attempt to get me out of the house and away from thinking about eating. I love riding my bike (when I can catch my breath, riding with extra weight is difficult!)

    Anyho...if you need a listening ear...I'm here.

Perhaps find a way to get rid of that stress. Maybe take a jog? Do some writing? Vent about your issues with a friend?

I had a friend who was a stress eater. He weighed 300lbs. at one point, and finally decided that whenever he was stressed out and felt like eating (or smoking a cigarette), he'd go for a run. Last I saw him, he was down to around 210. Looked great.
