Did MFP change the diary setting abilities recently? I had macros set to a low carb / high fat diet and today I noticed the diary total are not at the ratios that I want. I went to settings, which is where I think I set them before, and there is a locked symbol saying I need a premium membership to do this. WTH. Did I miss an announcement?

You change your macros under ‘Goals’. They’re not locked.

Thank you, I found it. Like so many other things in my life it has brought a new question / twist / concern. I am setting the macros as percentages, and it appears the percentages are percentage of grams of carbs/fat/protein. I am wondering if I should be setting things with a percentage of calories. I am adhering to a low carb / high fat diet and as such want 5% carbs, 80% fat, and 15% protein. I guess step on is research my diet plan and see what the percentages are based on: grams of nutrients or percentage of calories. Then see in MFP is copacsetic. Have a great day.

you can easily math out the 5% of calories vs carbs

ie. your goal is 40g carbs a day (which is 160cal - 40*4) - simply divide 160 by your goal calories (i.e. 1600) and you get that 10% of your daily goal is for carbs...rinse and repeat for protein and fat

hmmm. a bit of googling shows carbs & protein convert from grams to calories at 4 calories per gram, fat is higher at 9 calories per gram. Looks like I got some mathing to do. Thanks for your input, since it is math, I will have to study it a bit (and I like math). Have a great day.
