Agility training/low impact aerobics for rest day cardio you tube suggestions

I've been doing strong lifts for a few weeks. I'm not a rookie with weight lifting, but I've mostly focused on high volume - medium weight / high reps in the past . I just did 12 weeks of PHAT, then took 2 weeks of vacation and am now doing strong lifts to start a strength cycle. Currently, I'm looking for things to do on my off days. I was trying to do Focus T25 routines on my off days. But there is too much plyo for a recovery day. I would like to get Cardio in two days a week. I work out at home and do not have any cardio machines. I don't like those anyway. I'm more interesting using that time to improve my skills, whether it be balance, speed, agility, kick boxing, etc. I do do yoga on weekends and occasionally after a weight lifting sesh. So really I'm interesting finding some you tube videos that focus on speed, agility, and balance that also get the heart rate up to add to my repertoire. I'm also trying to keep it on the lower impact side, nothing more intense than casual running. I don't want to be doing jumping lunges on my recovery day. Burpees are ok. Just looking for reccomendations.

I highly highly recommend Fitnessblender! They have lots of low impact options, as well as some functional strength building.

Check out some of the speed ladder and cone drills on Youtube. There's endless variety, through all skill levels.

On the other hand, if you want the speed & agility for a particular sport, then search for drills related to your sport.

You can also add stabilization exercises, like single-dumbbell walking lunges (one hand is empty). Great functional exercise. The weight is relatively light and shouldn't affect your lifting recovery. :+1:

I tried a fitness blender routine yesterday. Was listed as low impact cardio. And while it was in fact low impact. I couldn't get my heart rate up with the routine, it was too slow and controlled. I did get a decent ab workout and good sweat. But I accomplish that on my yoga days, and I prefer yoga for that type of exercise. I did a find a routine that I will give a shot, it was listed as coordination and agility. It's not a lot jumping, but coordinating steps and movements. Mind body connection stuff. I'll see how that goes.

I did check out a bunch of speed ladder drills and that is exactly the kind of routine I'm looking to add. I just don't have the space for a speed ladder, I suppose they all sorts of sizes so maybe they make shorter ones. I found a lot short drills examples but no actual full length workouts with those tho.

And yeah stabilization stuff is another option to add. I already do yoga a couple times a week. And sometimes revisit P90x3 isometrix, which is a fantastic routine. I like to have variety tho.

The speed ladder doesn't need to be extended fully. Ebay has inexpensive ones. Also consider mini hurdles, which are awesome for speed work.
As far as workouts, you might need to piece together one by editing videos you like.

Yoga is fine for balance, but most real-world situations requiring stabilization involve moving about (walking, running, etc), often involving external objects (luggage, etc). That's why i like walking lunges. :+1:

Well I did buy a speed ladder, because well it was so cheap it was hard not to. And like I said this is the kinda work I want to add in on my off days.
