Is weight loss more obvious on big or small people??

I ask because I've lost 1 stone (as of this morning) in the last 3-4 weeks and I've got more energy ect, but me and my partner was having a conversation about me really wanting a burger last night and we somehow got onto the subject of me still looking excatly the same?? Up till now I have actually just been happy seeing the scales go down but I totally disregarded if I looked any better!
And I don't! We took another picture and I look the same than when I started hmm? I'd of automatically thought weight loss would show more on a bigger lady/man because we don't have to fight for it as hard as people closer to there goal weight do, if you know what I mean? But maybe I'm wrong?
What do you think, and when did you see results, should I be expecting mine to show at any point?
And yep, I have took my measurments and according to it I'm 2 inches small in most spots except my thighs which are the same and my boobs which are 3 inches smaller! (makes me a little sad inside!!!) I've gone from 16st 1 to 15 st 1 so far.

It's the opposite way around- the more extra weight you are carrying the less noticable it is when you lose it. For example, if you are 100lbs overweight then losing 5lbs may not be noticable as, quite frankly, it's a drop in the ocean!! But if you only have 5lbs left to lose, it could mean an entire dress size.
Try not to be discouraged though, a stone in that short space of time is phenomenal and you will start seeing results soon. Congrats!!0 -
I don't know the official way that this works but weight loss would usually show more on a smaller person that a bigger one in my experience as it is about body weigh %...... If someone who is 280 lbs lost 14 lbs then it would show a little in inches but if someone who was 140 lbs lost 14 then it should show physically as well by looking at them as it is 10% of their body weight. You are right though, the smaller you are (or closest to your goal you are) those final lbs are really hard work to shift!!!
Good luck on your journey Vx0 -
It just depends where the weight comes off I suppose. It's easier for bigger people to lose more weight quickly, that's why it's more noticable when you lose a large amount. I've lost almost 20lbs from June and I think I still look the same. If you're around the same people a lot, they won't really notice either.
For the weight loss you've had, you haven't actually lost many inches, so it might just be that.
Don't stress over it though! You'll get there in the end0 -
Results are different for everyone unforunately.
Don't let it discourage you though. One day you will step out of the shower and look in the mirror and go "Hey, I look different". Weight loss is funny like that when you want to see the difference you really don't, but then when you least expect it your pants are falling.
It will happen. Keep up the good work0 -
Ahh of course! It seems really obvious now I've seen it explained.
I get it! I wonder when I'll start seeing results, my clothes feel no different yet. Hopefully in good time though!!
For now I'm still happy seeing the scales go down.0 -
I don't think the first stone will show unless you've only got a little bit to lose. Takes about a stone and a half to two to start to be visible.
Mind you, a stone generally adds up roughly to a dress size, so I'm sure you'll start noticing soon.0 -
Nobody where i worked noticed the difference until i had lost over 1st and thats because i had to change the clothes i wore to work as they were swimming on me. Now i've lost nearly 3stone other people have also started to comment.
Don't be disheartened your doing so well and remember your doing this for yourself first and foremost. Good luck getting to your goal.0 -
SMALLER you are you more it shows by far x0

Yep, I still have a lot to lose, but have lost 41lbs so far. I'm still not seeing a difference in pictures or when I look in the mirror. I guess I'm losing it all in my feet. :P I did notice recently that my 2XL t-shirts have been a lot looser than normal (my jeans still fit the same, though).. but when I tried to fit into an XL t-shirt, it was still too tight. So I must be losing some inches in the stomach area, but not enough yet to go down a shirt size. I just thought at this point I'd definitely be able to see a difference, at least in my face or stomach.0

Hm yeah, it really never crossed my mind to keep an eye on how I look because I was in this for the long run but the convo came up and I felt quite robbed off all my hard work!
But now I know it's the oppisite of what I thought I'm alright now! Probably best it's not showing yet I can't afford new clothes right now!0 -
Glad you are in it for the long run - I am too, but had the same experience, after 14lbs I see NO DIFFERENCE. I thought I would be showered with compliments by now! But from 214 to 199 isn't showing much, I think 214 to anything in the 180's will start to be noticed :-)
You have a good attitude about it, and to answer your question, I think it is more obvious on smaller people, but as others have said, it is also how you carry it.
Success!!

People didn't notice my weight loss until I lost 25lbs but I noticed keep pushing you will get there.0

I started at 251lbs and would say I'd lost a good 28lbs before anyone started to notice. I then stayed around 205-210 for yonks, and have got down to 187 in 3 months-more folk are noticing this smaller loss than ever noticed the initial one0

If you are larger you will have "visceral fat" around your organs - by losing this you will healthier, more energetic etc as your organs are able to function better - however you wouldn't necessarily notice this physically even if you have lost inches.
Have you tried any light toning exercises or weights as this will help trim some of the fat and the more muscle you have you easier it is to burn calories!0 -
I like the "paper towel analogy."
When you have a full roll of paper towels, you're not going to notice much difference when you take the first few off. Each sheet only goes about halfway around the roll. But as you get closer to the cardboard tube, that same sized sheet goes around the tube about two or three times. Think of the sheets as pounds. If you've got 200 sheets on the roll, the first five isn't going to be noticeable. But when you're down to the LAST five, it's the difference between there being some sheets on the roll, and a naked tube.0 -
I didnt' really notice a difference until I was at the 10% mark. I started at 223 and really didn't notice any difference until I was at about 20-25 lbs.0
