Morning everyone! I'm new here and trying to get back on track. I have lost a few pounds in the past, but I can never seem to make it last long term. I dislike most forms of exercise, walking being the exception, and I love carbs and sweets, so my numbers like to go up. I have high cholesterol (hereditary) and would really like to try live the rest of my life without the medication, but until I'm at a healthy weight and can curb the junk food, I can't even do a trial run. I also quit smoking 7 months ago and the hand to mouth craving has been filled with munching.
Looking for friends, especially the kind I can count on to give me a push when I'm slacking. I'm not always a big poster on message boards, I only speak when I have something worth saying, but I will be reading trying to pick up more tips.

Hey there! Firstly, well done on quitting smoking and sticking to it! It's not hard and you should be proud of yourself.
I'll send you a friends request. I hope you find your success here. It really is a great, supportive place!0 -
First, congrats on getting restarted...second, going public with it really helps you stay on track. I've hit a point several times that I'd walk a couple months and lose 10 pounds, then stop and gain it back, + 5 or so...this time, I went public with it, posted my successes and failures on facebook for my family and friends to see and as of today, I'm down by 49.3 pounds and still going strong. So, go public with it so your family and friends can help support you and tell you when your doing awesome and give you a swift kick when you're stalling. That's my advice. I have a group for motivation and support at www.facebook.com/moveitandloseit where we participate in a weekly friday weigh in to keep everyone accountable and it's worked for so many. If you'd like to join us you're more than welcome, and if not, that's okay too. But, just hold true to yourself and trust the process. if you like to walk, then walk. If you like sweets, eat sweets, just eat low sugar sweets and in moderation. Lastnight I made a root beer float, first one I've had in 2 years and I used 1/4th a cup of Breyers no sugar vanilla ice cream and 1/4th a cup of regular root beer. It was only 70 calories and just enough that I could enjoy it but not feel bad. There's no reason to give up everything you love. Part of being healthy is also being happy right. Just start slow, celebrate every goal you hit and hang in there.
