In 2013-14 at age 66 I lost 45 lbs. it took me several months to lose with a healthy food plan but not a lot of exercise. Lifestyle is quite active, careful logging daily, measuring, portion control. Now after a gain early this year (careless tracking on a weeks vacation) I’m truly fighting to lose just between 5-7 lbs with WEEKS going by with 2lbs down 1 lb up OVER AND OVER. I’m getting so discouraged and I’ve never had such a difficult time with weight control. My calorie calculation here is suggested at 1350. I usually end up at very close to it or 200 less. My steps for at least each of 5 days of the week are about 8000 less on other. Since joining MFP 55 days ago I have managed only a 4 lb loss.
Suggestions are welcome!
Yes I talked briefly to my Dr recently and he basically said weight loss can be more than just calorie counting. Excercise is important too.

4 pounds in (almost) 8 weeks is right on target for someone with your amount of weight to lose. Yes, it feels glacial and frustrating, but you WILL get there is you stay consistent.

Exercise can help you burn calories, but will only aid in weight loss if you don't eat them all back (exercise makes some people more hungry than the benefit from burning). MFP is designed for you to eat back your calories from activity, anyway. Your daily deficit is already calculated in with the rate of loss and activity level you chose.

4 lbs in 8 weeks, 10lbs to goal. That’s very good. It’s working.

Don’t let your brain derail you. Failure to recognize our own success is a big problem in weight loss. Apply some patience.

Fluctuations are normal and continue but are much more noticeable because of the slow loss rate at the end. Track your daily weight in Happy Scale and watch the trend rather than the daily fluctuations.

Thank you for your replies. It really helps my attitude to have explanations here. There is something else I read that helped me understand also. Early last month I had a cold with a worse than normal cough. Dr prescribed a 7 day med I guess it was a steroid. It didn’t make me crave food but may have caused the fluctuations.
