Calories Burned

I don't know if its just me, but MFP seemed to be calculating quite low values for my exercise. So I tried a couple of other online calculators, and they all came up with at least 200 extra calories than MFP was showing for a 3 hour dance class. I did put in my weight as well, so it wasn't as if it was based on values for someone taller or heavier.

Thoughts? Should I take the MFP values or those of around 5 other online calculators?

I would always go with the lowest value, better to underestimate than over estimate. If you want accuracy, get a heart rate monitor.

Most MFP users find that MFP is quite high on its calorie burner estimates. The best bet is a HRM. If you don't have one I would suggest taking the lowest of all of the calculators you use to be on the safe side.

Get a HRM, then you will know for sure. I have one, and when I compare it to MFP sometimes it gives me more and sometimes less than what the HRM says.

For me, for running, it seems high (like double). For cycling, it seems right. I double check my calories burned at www.caloriesperhour.com
