125 floors today?

It’s been very windy where I am today. My Fitbit says I’ve done 125 floors?? Just wondered if anybody has had really high numbers today? The most I usually get is 40-50 so today’s seems really high!

The floors count barometric pressure changes while steps are present.
There is a reason Fitbit doesn't include floors input in their caloric calculations.
Windy days and airplane travel seem to be frequent culprits!

Oh yeah, I can get amazing floor credits doing a long walk in the wind! Now I know why (thanks PAV)2 -
Yep,windy days have gotten me a few fitbit floor badges!1

I have a totally flat walking route. I'm always amused at the different numbers I get for floor counts depending on the wind. Today was 24 floors, very windy!
When the wind is really bad, my Fitbit will even pick it up when I'm walking on the treadmill inside. That happened last year during a really bad snow storm.2 -
Thanks for your reply’s everyone. I didn’t think it was right and now I know why 🙂0

Darn were having a storm here, I could have earned badges if I went out in it3

Stupid Garmin always undercounts mine. (I live in a house where main living areas are on second floor; can't leave home without a flight, and routinely up and down throughout the day. Silly device says I average 3 up, 2 down - WTflip?).
I think your Fitbit is stealing my stair-climbs!1 -

When the air pressure is constant, barometers are a fantastic way to track elevation changes.
But wind is literally caused by pressure differences. Nature wants things in balance, air is pushed from high pressure zones into low pressure zones.
The same kind of thing tends to happen with weather. High pressure zones tend to blow bad weather away, into low pressure zones. Not always but in general.
My Garmin watch is fooled by this stuff too, so was the Suunto I had before it. It's just the way barometric altimeters work.1
