Struggling

I have not done the best in quite a long time. I have no motivation to eat right or exercise. I just want to go home from work and sit on my phone reading a book. I feel tired all the time. I'm really sick of feeling like this but the motivation to change isn't there. I need to get out of this slump.
Those of you who have gone though this - how did you get out of the slump?

1. I addressed my depression with my doctor. This may or may not be something you need to consider but was probably the most important step for me.
2. With that handled, I found it easier to commit to getting a handle on my diet and start losing weight.
3. Added in some exercise (just light cardio, because I'm lazy). I won't lie, I'm not a fan but I have more energy when I make myself do it. Now I'm baby-stepping into strength training again and it feels great!
The change will only happen if/when you make it happen. This is a battle no one else can fight for you.4 -
@pinuplove thank you! I think that's my deal too. I realized I haven't taken my antidepressant in about a month. Just kept forgetting. I made sure to take it today so hopefully that helps.0

Antidepressants take a while to "work" too. They aren't something to be taken on occasion, but take them every day. Going on and off antidepressants makes it worse.
Why did you stop taking them? Does your doc know? You may need to start out at a lower dose again. Pay attention to your mood/feelings in the next couple days. If you start feeling manic, I would call the doctor and get a plan for restarting the drug.2 -
@cmriverside I just kept forgetting. Crazy mornings with the kids and i just concentrated on them and forgot my stuff0

That's no good. Can you change the time of day you take them, maybe at bedtime when you brush your teeth instead of morning? I agree that AD meds are not something to take haphazardly.1 -

Perhaps set an alarm on your phone to remind you to take it everyday?1 -

At the age of 63 I finally make my teenage kids my main concern by getting more healthy as an example for them to avoid the 40 years of yo-yoing weight that did a number on me. 4 years later my health is better than in decades and with no preaching from me except by example both have started eating better and weigh less. I would have never done this just for myself I expect.
Best of success.1 -

I have to put mine somewhere I absolutely can't miss them - for me, that's beside my coffee grounds. I won't ever forget coffee, so I don't ever forget my meds.2
