Ideas: Meals On The Go?

I need ideas for meals that I can take with me to class and work. I don't have access to a fridge, and don't have enough space for a lunch bag, but I've got enough room for a small flat container in my backpack or in a drawer.

Heating ideas:
Microwave
Eat it cold

Refrigeration:
None

My go-to convenience meal when I'm extremely busy is instant noodles + a protein. Since you don't have refrigeration, your protein could be canned tuna. To prepare: add hot water to noodles, add tuna once noodles are ready. It takes seconds of hands-on preparation and only a few minutes to "cook".

Another option: sandwiches. Cheese sandwiches won't go bad in any weather.

Sometimes I also prepare snack sized baked savory pastry, pirogis, mini pies, or mini pizzas. I freeze them and take them with me frozen if I plan to eat them later in the day, or thaw them in the morning and take them thawed if I'm planning to have them earlier in the day. You could defrost or heat them in the microwave. You could make the flat variety (like these) to fit into a flat container.

A more expensive option: microwave meals.

Try Quiche: Just make a salmon one (use tinned salmon), slice, put it in fridge or freezer (depending on how much you eat) and just pop a slice into your container everyday with some nuts / salad. Its good. Also thermos' are good with soup and you can get small long ones that fit into a purse so should work with your bag.
