Hi...I'm new. today is my first day. I ordered a fitbit charge that should arrive today to help me on my journey. I would like to lose 50 lbs. I am currently 225, and hate myself. My husband and I want to start a family in January and so I have no more excuses. i want a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. This is likely the 1000th time in my life I have tried to lose weight, yet each year, i find myself weighing just a little more than the last. Hopefully this time will be different.

The first covers accurate logging and some of the tools in MFP to help you make things easier. The second discusses caloric needs and setting goals. These are two of the most commonly-referenced threads on MFP; tons of people point to them as being sources of great info when you're starting out.

You can do it! I lost 20lbs so far just by logging food and keeping within calorie restriction. Good luck!1

Hi Amanda, it’s day 1 for me too. We have VERY similar stories. I’m 245 and I want to lose 75-100. This is my 4,689,899th time lol. We can communicate or hold each other accountable if you’d like.
