Calling all smoothie connoisseurs

Guys, I'm a poor college student on a budget. I want to incorporate smoothies into my new diet but from the looks of it, they can be so darn expensive to make. Does anyone have any simple, BUDGET FRIENDLY smoothie recipe ideas? Any thoughts appreciated.

That depends on what you want/need from a smoothie. Mine are very basic and sweet: milk, water or orange juice, vanilla yogurt, and frozen berries. Sometimes I add a little spinach.
For fruit (vegetables), check sales. I frequently find frozen fruit for the same or a slightly lower price than fresh fruit and I don't have to worry about it going bad. Also, sometimes the bigger bags are actually cheaper per ounce than the small bags, so do a little math before you grab something.1 -
Depends on what you like but every morning I make one for my family as follows but below is one serving
banana
1/2 cup of milk
handful of spinach or kale
splash of oj
1/4 cup of yogurt (could be peanut butter or quick oats)
1/2 cup frozen fruit1 -

I don't make fancy smoothies with exotic ingredients so mine are not expensive at all. I don't make them much because I think they're too high in calories, but this is what I do: frozen fruit, always including a banana. (either fruit that you buy frozen, or fresh fruit that I cut up and freeze myself), milk, vanilla yogurt. Sometimes I'll throw in spinach just because, why not. You can't taste it.
I either do a pineapple smoothie (pineapple, banana, coconut milk, yogurt) or a strawberry banana smoothie (strawberry, banana, regular milk, yogurt)
I don't like OJ in my smoothies personally.
My husband went on a smoothie kick once and he'd just buy whatever fruit looked good and threw it all in there without trying to get any specific kind of flavor. It's all good.
You could add vanilla flavored protein powder to make it more of a meal.1 -
