No one has ever motivated me, I've had to learn the hard way and on my own. But lucky for you you've found this sweet *kitten* website with tons of people with resources and good suggestions! You can do it. Do this for yourself, because you are worth it. [=0

try not to let these negative people affect you too much. i always figured people said things like that to make themselves feel better about the fact that they are over-eating or to make excuses for why they aren't going to change their eating habits (even though most of them probably should). let those types of comments motivate you to prove them wrong! :-)0

Some like to sabotage others hard efforts, could be jealousy :sick: :devil: , could be plain stupidity. Just have to remember you're doing this for yourself and your health, so you have to blow them off! Good luck on your journey!0

Some people are just stupid.
My mom thinks I have a eating disorder because I'm the only of her five kids that eat vegetables.
some people are just insensitive, and stupid, and that is probably the kind of people you have on your hands.0 -

Don't listen to them my family is just like that I swear when I am fat they say stuff like oh you better watch urself and blah blah make me feel bad but when I'm dieting and trying to get fit if I don't eat something they r like OMG your starving urself or ur losing to much eat makes me want to scream but I've learned not to listen to anyone I know what I need to do. So u just keep up the hard work and ignore people I've learned your not gonna make everyone happy so just make sure u are0

How rude! I'd tell them to back off. You know what you're doing now... this site really helps with that! Do they know you are logging your food and taking a healthy approach to weightloss? If not, you probably should tell them... may help them to ease up a bit.
BTW, I was the same way when I was in high school... thinking not eating was the answer. I lost a lot of hair those 2 weeks I didn't eat anything, not one single thing. It was bad. Glad we both know better now.0 -
Eat and show them your diary, that way they can see you are actually eating. I'm 30 and still have problems with people! Good luck! Do it the right way and it will get easier and be easier!0

This site will help motivate you and keep you focused on your goals. Keep logging your foods, and if you haven't already read some books by knowledgeable folk like Tom Venuto or Chris Aceto. These guys will help you learn the quickest and best possible ways to reach your goals. Best of Luck!~0

Sadly, you will run into ppl like this all over. You just have to stand your ground. You know when you've had enough! A lot of ppl don't care to realize that 1 SERVING is just that ONE serving!! We're here for ya!0

I know it's cliche, but those other truly don't matter. This is all about you and no one else. Be selfish and eat what you know is right, not what some other person "thinks" is right. Keep your head up and faith in yourself and you will succeed. And then all those others who said you couldn't do it will be dying to know how you DID lose all that weight.0

After you log what you have eaten, show them the chart for the day. Just so long as you are eatting your 1200 calories and are staying in line with your fats, sugars, etc... they should see that you aren't starving yourself. Get more active too burn off the calories that are "forced" on you.0

this is horrible and I understand exactly how you feel, and maybe I should take my own advice when I say this but I feel people who make fun or even criticize us for how we look and what we eat have pretty ****ty lives and and bitter about life. I truly believe people on this site motivate me to stay strong and I believe I can do it based on the success stories. Just stick in there and I'm sure you can do it.0

Like others have said - people suck. You are young - learn that now to help later in life when people still continue to suck. Do what you need to do for yourself and yourself only. My ex-husband used to make mean comments about my weight first thing in the morning and I would be upset so I'd stop for doughnuts on my way to work. He thought he was "helping" me. What an idiot jerk!!! And what an idiot I was for staying and listening to him! Just stay motivated and know we are all here to help you!0

I know exactly how you feel! People really cannot understand unless they are in our shoes. It is really hard when people are not motivational, but that is what we are all here for : ). Try to ignore all those people, because if you don't, it'll just stunt your progress. Just think about how good you will feel as you lose the weight, and be proud of yourself for not getting that second bowl.0

I don't know how some people don't think before talking.
When I was 13, I thought not eating was the answer..
I WAS THIRTEEN AND NOT EVEN IN HIGH SCHOOL YET.
That was just over 5 years ago!
Now, anytime I mention this site, or so no to any food (a second helping even! )
All I ever get

LIKE WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL ABOUT SAYING NO TO ANOTHER BOWL OF PASTA, OR ANOTHER HELPING OF FOOD!
Ugh, stresses me out, and hurts.
From my personal experience with being husky my whole life, until now where I can squeeze into a 33 without it hurting me.. I used to always be in 34,36, 38, and for a very short time 40 waist jeans, and it was really unmotivating especially since I was denied dates and even opportunities in which I felt discriminated against.. because of this lack of self motivation I was brought relationships that were very unhealthy and posessive.. Much like the marriage I am in right now, he is very sick when it comes to having an eating disorder and though I try and help I know I cant tell him what to do or how to not want to keep losing 50, 100, or more lbs when he is already 168lbs and healthy.. However, he feels like he can jab me by calling me a fat pig in arguments which happen often when i assert myself..
My best advice to you is to just live your life the way you want to, I am speaking up finally and going to these boards for support not just for my weight but also for friends who I can count on to help me cope dealing with being a housewife to a guy who feels like if he doesnt have the control then he is unhappy... I have my own issues, but as a kid I must tell you I felt very negative about myself and only now am I seeing what I am truly capable of.. My grandparents cant do much in helping me get out of this situation but then again Love conquers all and well though he can be a bit of a brute at times, I do love him and I want to help him regardless just like I still want to help my alocholic ex-husband who (well isnt my ex legally i guess, due to its only a seperation) but still I think about him everyday... These factors do tie into my weight because of all the burdens I put into my mind it certainly affects the scale because weight loss is not just physical it is mental as well... How can anyone of us lose weight if we cant mentally be prepared for what is to come.0
