The last couple weeks I have done terrible on my diet. My anxiety gets the best of me, even more since my husband passed. Then moving, it’s been tough to stay on track. Time to get things together again.

How long ago did he pass? I'm not saying to let your eating get completely out of control, but maybe you need a bit of time to step back and take care of your emotional well-being.15

You will feel better than this and when you do, you can start up again.
I have high stress days where I fall off plan. I try to get back at it as soon as possible because I've found a strong correlation for me between feeling peaceful/able to handle my emotions and my nutrition and moderate exercise. When I do the right things for my body, my mind is much clearer and quieter.

Just do what you need to do to handle grieving, and keep pulling yourself back on track when you feel strong. It's a process. I was a young widow myself . . . 20 years ago, now. It may never go away, but - with time - it gets smaller in the rear-view mirror, and you find new ways to be. Wishing you healing, patience, strength!11

I'm sorry for your loss. My grandson passed this year and it turned my life and my families upside down. It took me about 8 months before I could even think about my health again. Be gentle with yourself. You may have good days and bad with your diet and that's really okay.6

I'm sorry to hear of your husband's passing. I hope you have a lot of friends and family to help you through this time. You didn't ask, but volunteering has helped me get through some difficult times, it pulls me out of my head, and I feel better when it's said and done.
As for the bold, this is a lifetime thing. Only you know when it's time to get back into a calorie deficit, but don't feel like you need to rush it. You have the rest of your life to be aware of calories.5 -
Be gentle with yourself. The rest of the world is doing the job of being mean to you. Don't join the other side.7

Sometimes taking care of yourself looks counter productive. Do what you can, breathe in and out. I am so sorry for your loss. I bet your hubby would cheer you on no matter what so just for now keep track of what you are eating, maybe in a week or two you can worry about what and how much. Just remember to start living again soon after the stress lessens...he'd want you around if the situation were reversed4

Do you have a mental health professional you can talk to? The grieving process is completely normal, but counselors can still help with it and with how it affects your anxiety. I think right now you should just focus on your mental and emotional health rather than adding another thing to feel anxious about.5
