Does anyone else struggle with gastroparesis and the damn side affects? Im finding it very hard to eat and get in macros when I am always feeling bloated and miserable... Any ideas or tricks to help with this?

I was diagnosed with acid reflux but have more tests coming up--gastroparesis is what I suspect. I feel constantly full and bloated, even first thing in the morning when I haven't eaten for hours. Then it gets worse during the day as I eat more meals. So I can relate! The things that help for me are:

    1. Eat sloooow.

    2. Blend my meals in the food processor. Yeah, a little weird, but this REALLY helps. Whatever I'm going to eat--chicken, broccoli, sweet potato, for example--I just put all of it in the food processor together and pulse a few times. Eggs (cooked first, lol), veggies, sweet potato works well too.

    3. Have a couple liquid meals during the day (protein shake or something).

I hope those things will help you too! Sorry you are going through this.

I have some pretty bad digestion problems. My tips-

    1. eat all vegetables well cooked. I also try not to eat cruciferous veggies like cauliflower, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, carrots, kale, asparagus. A lot of these sit in my stomach forever. If I'm going to eat any of these, I cook them until they are very very very soft.
    2. avoid fruits with a hard skin. I eat an apple everyday but I notice it'll give me reflux if I don't chew it really well. Any chunks are hard for me to digest and cause a lot of discomfort.
    3. eat mild food. Things that are spicy or in a heavy sauce cause a lot of gurgles and reflux. Tomato sauce and bbq sauce are especially bad.
    4. chew really well. I make sure everything is completely chewed before swallowing it, almost to the point of puree.
    5. smooth soup and smoothies. It helps when things are already blended. Drink your calories.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Small amounts throughout the day, low fiber, low fat. I have gastroparesis too but it is very severe and I'm extremely underweight so I just got a j tube.
