Hi All I’ve lost190lbs in the past 5 years due to hard work and did it all by myself but for the past few months I’m really struggling. I joined my fitness pal again today after previously leaving, I need new friends who can help and guide me. I lost my mother a month ago and it’s made me turn to food, it’s one of the roughest times of my life and don’t want to just go back to the old me.

take some time at maintenance while you grieve. weight loss doesn't need to be your main priority right now.

Sorry to hear about your mother, Eire. I, Too, Have experienced a loss and it was very detrimental to my health. Maintaining your health can be a war in itself, And having to add a grieving process to that makes winning the war that much harder. Your mother I’m sure was so very proud of you for what you have accomplished! I mean, Wow! Dropping 190lbs is an incredible victory. She wouldn’t want you to give that all up on account of her passing, You know? There can be inspiration in the darkest of places/times, Find it, And use it to keep you going like never before. You must push on, No matter what it takes! I wish you all the best, Eire! Add me if you would like. I am very active on the app.

Eire - my heart is with you. Losing your Mum is tough. I think it is wonderful that you have turned back to MFP to reconnect with people who you know have been helpful in your amazing transformation journey. Right now weight-loss will be difficult I imagine because as you know it requires time and space and your head to be in the right place. I wonder though whether you're being given the chance to understand what it is about food that gives you so much comfort when you need it? You've identified sharing your struggle with others helps, is there anything else you can do to help process those feelings that will be kinder on your body? Remember, the feeling of loss in natural - this is more about how you manage yourself while you have those feelings.

190lbs, wow first I have to say that is amazing what an inspiration! I am really sorry for your loss it must be such a hard time for you without having the pressure of wanting to keep up your weight loss. When I had a hard time and wanted comfort food I had lower fat versions of what I knew I would crave - baked crisps, weight watchers caramel wafers etc, I did keep to the correct portion sizes for my meals though. I found that although my weight loss did slow down it didn't go back up and I was able to carry on without the added stress of feeling guilty because I was struggling with my weight. This is a really sad time for you and I wish you all the best.
