All the time! Don't panic, see it as a blip, and move on to a better day the next day! :D

I too do this quite often. Just put it behind you and forget about it. Once that calorie tracker clicks over at midnight it's a whole new day:happy:

at the moment i am 900odd cals over my goal, as i am off to TGI's for tea (cheesey bacon cheese burger, yuuuuuuuuum!!!).

i will be working out before i go out this evening, so minus about 300 cals off that for exercise, and to be honest i will just REALLY enjoy my burger, and carry on tomorrow as normal!

It happens a few times a month. Generally when I go to a nice resturant.

Close your eyes it is in the past.

    Start new today!

Exactly! Just try smaller portions, half a serving is what I do when I notice I'll be eating a lot that day
  • Honestly I seem to go over every day I do not exercise. I am on the 1/2 lb a week and had to up my daily cals by 150 or so. I refuse to be hungry and cranky. down to 144 from 158 in about 2 months so over all still happy but I slip often.

I had my first over day yesterday and it bummed me out. But you know, each day is a NEW start. Drink water, get some add'l exercise.....and move forward.

It's maybe the thing that keeps us from chucking the whole thing and going back to the bad old days. Don't beat yourself up, I use the system daily and look at the calorie graph each day or two - I can see if I'm starting to slide.

You guys are all so helpful :) the main reason i slipped up today was because of wine and munchy snacks that came with it. i always seem to beat myself up about going over. thanks guys :)

I would say about once a week (less often if I can), I just allow myself to splurge on one big over-calorie meal (i.e. McDonald's mushroom and swiss large value meal with a regular Coke for me). I'll try to work out before/after to ease the damage, but like everyone else said, I don't beat myself up about it... it happens. You start fresh again the very next chance you have (the next meal usually) and don't let it become a habit. I do plan to start keeping track of what led up to it... (stress? lack of time? boredom? was I "rewarding" myself for something? etc) and I'll try to work to keep those things in check... but it happens more than I'd like... I just keep trying.... No one can change overnight without some obstacles along the way... :)

Not beating yourself up, forgetting it and moving on is one of the most important things to learn to do when losing weight, I can't remember how many times in the past one little slip up has caused me to spiral into days of uncontrolable binging. What I tend to do is if I have a bad day, the following day I'll try to get a good exercise burn in and then I won't eat my calories back (which I usually do) but If I can't I don't worry about it. I think it's good to keep your body guessing and so far (fingers crossed I never will) I haven't hit a plateau.

I actually give myself one day a week of not logging at all. I eat within reason - I don't go way overboard, but I just try to be sensible while allowing myself to relax a bit. I find it encourages me to stick to my goals the other 6 days of the week

I go (way) over at the weekends becasue I go to the pub and have a few drinks. So that's a meal's worth of caolries in one afternoon, but it's how we unwind and catch up with each other, so for me it's non-negotiable. :drinker:

I just have to think about keeping good for the rest of the week... and it seems to have worked, although the test period is still in its infancy so to speak

I'm thinking I'm going to change my weigh-in day to Saturday morning so that I get a better reading of how good I've been during the week

i was way way waaay over yesterday! But the goats ceese risotto, garlic bread and wine was well worth it!
I'll make up for it today by walking to and from work (6miles) and then ill try to fit a 30 min workout in as well (got to love Jillian Michaels 30 say shred!) that way for the week it'll all even out!

Sometimes it helps to change your calories every day e.g. go over 400 1 day then under 400 the next as it helps to keep your metabolism on its toes! Just dont beat yourself up over it! :)
