Hi everyone!

I'm on a 1650 calorie a day diet and should be losing about 500g a week. I also do weight training (nothing serious) and cardio three times a week. I put my cardio in very conservatively so that if it says 200 calories, I enter 150, just in case and I stick to my calories strictly.

Last weekend I fell off the wagon nd ate too much cake. So I understand there was a bit of gain, but now I'm stuck there. The scale is just not budging.

Any ideas?

How do you measure your food intake?

Do you have a food scale to weigh everything you are eating? It makes a huge difference! Most people are really awful at eyeballing a serving size.

So there might be a bunch of things. If you are a menstruating female in the last week of your cycle, you might be seeing a fluid gain from the hormone effects. If you ate more sodium this week there could be a fluid gain from that. If your 1650 calorie/day count is not accurate - either due to measuring errors or faulty database entries - that could be part of the issue. Weight loss is not linear and most of us will have weeks when there seems to be no joy happening. It's part of the journey.

I use a scale or appropriate measuring cups and spoons

Oh I'm a pain in the backside with my exact weights and measures!

Be prepared for the scales to stall at any given time and then prepare for the WOOSH effect.
It will all then become clear.

Ah. That might explain it. The menstruating female part.

My moods have been horrible. I don't understand why, as every article I found says exercise and healthy eating helps this.

When did you start the cardio? When I first started, the first week or so I ended up putting weight on instead of losing it, because i was building muscle, since then it's gradually dropping more than 1 kg a week. I burn minimum of 300cal a day tho and I'm on 1300/cal a day which is surprisingly sometimes hard to reach eating healthy. Xxx

O wow, I would not feel well on so few calories. But I am 1,8m tall. I started cardio and weights 3 weeks ago. I don't gain muscle fast at all, but it would be nice thinking that might be it!

I hope so. I really am being strict and it's a bit demoralising.

I don't have too much to lose luckily but I'm hoping to reduce my estrogen levels by doing so. I don't want to lower my calories because then I'm just exhausted all day long and I have a very very busy toddler.
