What's wrong with my legs?

I am a regular runner, 3 times a week ish, I used to strength train at least 3 times a week but let that slide a bit to once a week.
Over last 8 weeks i've done an event every 2 weeks, 10k, half, another half, 11 mile hill race.
Somewhere in the middle of this few weeks my legs suddenly felt sore as i've never run before. My joints are sore and my muscles ache. I've dialed it back mileage since the last long event but doesn't seem to be improving. My legs feel as if i've never run before and have constant DOMs.
Am at a loss why they would be sore suddenly? Not enough consistency? More strength training.. I take magnesium every day..
Any words of wisdom appreciated!

You answered your own question.

Only running 3 times a week is not enough training for those kind of events in that time frame. Also you have not left enough time between events. You need to do some reading up if you want to keep on competing and get educated about training and resting. Don't give yourself rhabdo!5

your legs are telling you they want a rest8

You need a rest.
I’m also a runner, and I’ve done three races in the past six weeks (half marathon, 6.6k, and 10-miler). My performance has not been ideal because I’m an idiot who signed up for three races with two weeks between each — thus leaving no time for a proper taper before the 10-miler. (I wanted the medals. They had cool designs. I run for shiny stuff.) My legs were killing me during the 10-miler, because they simply were overrun.
Take a rest, and then go back to your training.10 -
Thanks for your help - much appreciated.. i am not really competing either - the events just happened to be close together and i couldn't say no
Will take some rest & let my legs recover3 -
Yep to the above. I'm always sore after a race, even if it's a 5K (when I'm used to running higher distances several days a week). You tend to push yourself harder when you're racing as opposed to normal training runs. Run easy for a few weeks and cut back your mileage, and take a break from races for a while . Happy running!

Yeah, but even if you're not competing -- I never compete, and just run to run -- you're pushing harder even without trying in those events than you would be on a training run. I had *fully* intended to treat my 10-miler as my regular 10-mile training run, but my brain was all "nah, we're pushing this one."1 -
i guesss next year i'll learn to say no - am liking this !! lesson learned.. hopefully they'll feel normal soon1

*edit.. am NOT liking this0

Because your training is inadequate for those races basically back to back with no recovery.0
