I’ve been “dieting” (watching what I eat, aiming for around 1200-1400 calories a day) for about two months now. I’ve been getting discouraged I’m not seeing faster results and I have noticed I’ve had a dip in my energy levels, have been more irritable and just feel like i’m really dragging. I know my calorie deficit is more intense (initially I started out on 1600, but I wanted to see results faster so took the liberty to cut some more). It’s just been getting really hard lately. Has anyone taken a break and upped their calories to more of a basal maintenance rate (like 1800 for me probably) for a week or so to avoid diet fatigue? I’ve been reading this is a thing. I heard it helps with metabolism. I know people do cheat meals and cheat days but I feel better when I eat cleaner, I’d rather just eat a little more for a while. Many days I go hungry. Or would this undo my progress and cause the weight to start piling back on? I swear, dieting (at least for me) is so much more mental than physical. I’ve become so distrustful of my body and it’s sad.

The world is full of overweight yo-yo dieters.
Diet is a way of eating FOR LIFE. If you are having trouble sticking to it for 2 months you are in big trouble. Slow down. Learn how to eat. Don't be in a hurry and you'll set for the rest of your life.
Good luck.3 -

just look this dude up. There are more articles on diet breaks all over the interwebs just Google it, but the guys at Clean Health are legit. And I've had diet breaks implemented by coaches in the past when I had coaches and it always was a good thing.
