I don't have experience with T2D, just wanted to bump your post back up!
What has your doctor said? Do you still have weight to lose? Hang in there, I hope you get back on track.0 -
@yvettewelborn welcome on MFP forums.
For years my fasting blood sugar was over 100 but never over 119 so no treatment was started. At the age of 63 my arthritis pain and joint damage was over the top and had been for years.
On a hunch I cut out food containing added sugar and any form or any grain totally (basically that cut out highly processed food sources) back in Oct 2014. I was getting good pain relieve by day 30 and it continues to work well four years late. Many other health issues started to improve if not totally resolve like 40 years of serious IBS and food cravings.
My fasting BG levels are now under 100 and my last A1C was 5.1. Now I eat what I want when I eat now but continue to stay away from highly processed foods and keep total daily carbs down to around 50 grams.
The only medical cause of true Type 2 Diabetes (Type 1 diabetes cause is very different) that I have found is the eating of carbohydrates. Why is this true for some and not others I do not know. What I do know from reading is most if not all have lower fasting blood glucose levels if we keep our daily carb intake down. Since I eat a lot of whole foods containing carbs I do not try to go below 50 grams of carbs daily personally.
Best of success in finding a way where you can be healthy and Rx Med free if possible. What works for one may or may not be healthy for another. At first my doctor did not think much of the LCHF Way of Eating but 4 years later she said my test results shows Keto is working well for me and to stick with it and she will see me in a year. Keep your doctor in the loop.
