I use nike training club app on my ipod to do my workouts. I think it's pretty good. But how do I know how many calories it burns? Does anybody know more about this app or how to log that type of exercise in mfp?

I think some folks log it as "circuit training."
I measure my heart rate at regular intervals throughout the workout (for 15 secs then take that X 4). I average those numbers, then I plug them into a calorie burn calculator that does it by heart rate, not by activity, such as...

Problem with those is that depending on the calculator you use, and whether or not you know your VO2 max, you can get wildly different results. The calculator I noted above has a link to a VO2 calculator as well, that you can use (estimate only) using a resting heartbeat.
I'm 40, female, 154 lbs. Estimated VO2 max was 42, average bpm doing NTC for 45 minutes is around 136. My calorie burn for that workout is *about* 382 calories. Without a heart rate monitor, though, it's hard to tell. I always estimate low.0 -
Only way to really know is with a HRM. I use the program almost daily and I burn around 500 for a 45 minute advanced session.0
