If you are new to posting on this thread, or if you are new to cycling, We welcome you! If you are returning from a previous thread, We welcome you, too.

This thread is for anyone who rides a bicycle ... or unicycle, tricycle, tandem, etc.

Do you bike to work? Do you pull your children to the park? So you ride weekends? Do you spin at home or in the gym? Is Zwift your thing? Do you race crits, ironman, or centuries? Or, are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid? However you choose to push your pedal, you are welcome on this thread.

There's no set challenge across participants - this is a mixed-ability / mixed-experience / everyone welcome group. Just pick your own target that you want to achieve this month, post that when you join the thread, and post updates throughout the month as you're working towards your target.

Now starting November!

    Temperature is cranking up here, it was 24°c at 5:30am today, 2.3 hrs, 57km and 500m. Been taking it easy trying to sort out a niggle in the knee.

    Hard frost this morning. :(

    For November I will get out on the roads as much as possible but will crank up my indoor technical training. I'm curious to see if my FTP has improved since the Spring.
    Can't say I'm looking forward to the FTP test but the result should be interesting.

    Just one ride this month so far - a chilly 50 miler.

    I seem very sensitive to temperature as 12C felt fine and 9C felt like I was cooling rapidly.

    Did my first proper indoor training session of the winter season last night on the Wattbike and included a 20 minute FTP estimation test as part of bench-marking to measure my progress.
    Delighted to set a new PR, only marginally up on last winter but it's in the right direction.

    Usually it takes me a while to get back in the groove of prolonged high HR work but got my pacing about right, was trying for 225w but got 223w.

    Next week's tests are a full 60 min FTP test and a 3 min Maximum Minute Power test. Neither will be enjoyable I'm sure!

    Nov 7 - 14.2 miles. 1 hr. First ride in the dark after the end of daylight saving time. Gotta love NightRider headlights.

    3 mins is great, 20 mins is hard enough, 60 mins is a new form of torture.

    16hrs, 388Km and 4619m of climbing for Nov so far.

    Hi all - I’d love to join you — I need reminders of the joy of biking as I tend to let everything else take priority... I moved to Columbus Ohio 5 years ago and have wanted to train for the Pelotonia. Treated myself to a sweet little road bike (that I haven’t been on in two years), kept my hubby’s street bike (I take it out occasionally) and bought a Peloton so I could train througjh the winter (love the scenic routes!! Beautiful weather anytime of year - lol!)
    So my goal for November is simply to ride a few times a week and remember the joy I get from the rhythm, the wind in my face and the never ending road in front of me. Well, at least the scenic rides will remind me of that since I’ll be inside... 😎
    I’m fighting a cold so maybe not today, but I’ll be here soon...

    It's nice being a Brit - you get to pick and choose from a wide variety of measurement units! :smiley:
    Fahrenheit in summer and Celcius in winter and miles or kilometres whenever it makes a nice round number.

    Realised I was coming up to 5,000 miles for the year and also closing in on my most miles cycled in a year previous best so did a metric century ride of 100km to hit my goal miles. Weird huh?

    5,053 miles for the year so far and my goal of averaging 100 miles a week this year is in sight.

    I didn't set the bar high this year as it was my first year back cycling. 600k a month and i should make that comfortably, 10,000k is too far away. 300 hrs so far so ill try for 365 hrs.

    117 miles for the week including one really frustrating attempt at a one hour FTP test indoors.

    At first I thought I was having a really bad day, felt far too hard to maintain my goal watts, couldn't hit my normal cadence and HR went beyond sustainable after just 10 minutes. Had to abort at 30 mins which was really frustrating.

    My best guess is that someone had calibrated the power meters on the bike and made a mess of it - if you do it while pedalling it takes whatever power you put through it as zero. Next day I went out and did one of my regular routes and cadence, power and speed were really good.

    Worst thing is I'll have to do the FTP test again next week. Grrrrr. :(
