Protein fills you up?

Does it, really? I have been trying to get a bit more protein (greek yoghurt and eggs, mostly) recently, and I find I am hungry very soon afterwards. If anything it makes me hungrier, not less, and yet I hear again and again that protein keeps you feeling full longer.

Drink a couple cups of water afterwards? I used to feel the same way. Had to get in the right frame of mind!0

protein does make me SO full. Usually eating lots of CARBS makes me hungry faster.
check and make sure the greek yogurt you are using doesnt have too many carbs...under 25 g is reasonable for a 140ish calorie container...you may want to get a plain greek yogurt and add your own fruit or granola do cut down on the carbs.
also try adding cottage cheese or spreading out your food so you are eating every 3 hours or so0 -

I always buy Fage plain greek.0 -
It lasts longer in your stomach,
it can take 4-5 hours to fully process protein where carbs can be done literally in minutes.0 -
my appetite with a protein filled diet seems to be insatiable so my comment is virtually useless. you're welcome.0

The thing with protein being "filling" is that it doesn't necessarily makes you fill fuller right away, for me anyway. It, however, maintains the fullness for longer.
Want instant fullness? 15+g fiber in a single meal does it for me. Try 15+g fiber AND 40+g protein in a meal!0 -
I eat a lot of protein and don't ever feel "full." Only carbs give me that stuffed feeling. But with a lot of protein, I don't feel nearly as hungry. For me, there's a difference in feeling full vs not feeling hungry.0

Don't forget the fat. Protein annnd fat make you full.0

Protein synthesis peaks 20-30 minutes after digestion and leaves the system after 3 hours. Although Casein protein can stay for 7-8 hours as it's much slower.0 -
Everyone is different. Ingesting more protein -- especially in the morning has helped with my cravings quite a bit.0

Thank god I'm not alone. I am not buying this whole "protein makes you feel full longer" b.s. any more.
You know what makes me feel full for a long time? POTATOES.

It fills me up for sure, especially protein shakes.0

Protein shakes make me feel full and bloated for 10 minutes. Then hungry again and in search of real food.
Potatoes do fill me up, I never eat them, as I forget they exist. Maybe I should rediscover them.0 -
Protein will mitigate the blood sugar surge that you get from carbs. But I agree that it's fat that you need to be eating to feel full. Good fats, not crap.0

In my world, people are individuals. What satiates one does not necessarily satiate another. On size doesn't fit all. Imagine that.0
