Going from 4K to 2k calories

Hi guys! So I have been a heavy drinker for about a year and gained 45 pounds. I decided to see exactly how many calories I was drinking on average and it was HIGH (plus whatever I ate when I was drunk/hungover) and it looks like on average I had been consuming about 4K calories a day. I really didn’t think it could be THAT many calories but boy was I wrong.
I’m a 27 year old woman and I am 234lbs now at my very highest weight
So I decided to start by just cutting out drinking and see how it goes. I never binge or snack into the night sober and tend to stay around 17-2300 calories just eating whatever I decide to eat. According to my Fitbit I burn about 2400 calories a day.
My question is, will I lose weight still just by not going over what my body burns from now on even though most people would maintain because I was so high calorie before?
Hopefully that makes sense!

If your Fitbit is accurate and you eat less than that you will lose weight. 500 calorie deficit per day is 1 lb per week. I found my Fitbit is about 200 calories too low, others find it too high. Give it a go for 4-6 weeks and see what happens.

If you cut out all the calories from alcohol plus binge calories yes, you’ll certainly lose weight even if you don’t do anything else. Don’t worry too much about what your Fitbit is saying right now. As you get closer and closer to goal you have to start fine tuning but if you’ve truly been taking in a ton of calories in alcohol and alcohol induced snacking, then you’ll see a drop when you cut those calories out. It really is that simple. But remember you have to be patient. Weigh as often as you want but don’t make any judgments about if it’s “working” for at least four full weeks if truly sticking to your plan of no alcohol.0

Yes, if you're in a calorie deficit then you will lose weight1

Thanks for the info guys! And thank you for not judging. I’m pretty embarrassed about not taking good care of myself. I appreciate the replies!1
