DON"T EAT EXERCISE CALORIES???

  • What I got out of it was that people were not properly tracking their calories in vs. calories out, therefore were eating too much. They could have more to eat but didn't have an understanding of how much more.

    i was kinda confused by this. because the only example they gave was a high calorie coffee drink and a muffin after running for an hour... that alone was probably around 600-700 cals! running for an hour doesnt burn that much..

    i dunno? it seems like they're saying dont go overboard just cuz u exercised?

    its a little confusing.:huh:

    "don't eat exercise cals" - that's not what the article says. it says that people who allow themselves to overeat in justification (" oh I went to the gym I guess I can have Burger King for lunch") will not lose at the same rate as those who watch their calories. to the article I say: DUH.

    MFP's strategy of eating the exercise calories is not the same as using working out to justify unchanged eating habits.

  • Ok so I read and you have to also understand that if you are going to stay on a 2000 calorie diet and then workout and "assume" you have burned 300 calories you CANNOT then go have a double cheese burger mael from McFatties. Generally we are all on the MFP restricted calories...I can 1200 calories and not workout and still lose weight but if I DO work out and burn "300" calories I am then only getting 900 calories for the DAY and I WILL WILL WILL go into starvin marvin mode. Basically if you are only working out to eat then you probably should get a HRM to KNOW that you are in your guidelines. I personally ( meaning my opinion and no one else has to feel this way :flowerforyou: ) When you are changing your LIFE you are working out to be a better healthier self and if you are eating right it isn't so you are droppinf a pound here or there you JUST want to be healthy so there is room for messing up and you realize that your arteries don't want those greasy fatty foods. ....I really hope this makes sense LOL:drinker: :drinker: :blushing:

    I do eat some of them sometimes just to clear it up!! Sorry!! i did understand what they were saying though.

    It is so important to "eat" your exercise cal. But you should do it within 45 minutes of exercise so that the nutrients are assimilated right into the muscles for growth. Also you should be having an appropriate protien/carb ratio meal for more efficient absorbtion. Certainly not a burger and fries, although I have been known to save my calories and work out extra hard for that treat of red meat and a martini! Yum!
