Help! I am sure I must be confused - Nutrition Advice Neede

I am speeding up on my 60th birthday in December and determined to get back into my little black jeans and feel firm and fit. I should mention now that I feel great but need to shed 30 pounds. I am 5'5" 160 lbs. and healthy.
I eat at home 99% of the time, measure and weigh food as I prepare my own meals and enter every morsel I put in my mouth in my food diary.
I just calculated the calories I have eaten over the last 29 days since joining myfitnesspal. I average 1279 calories. I joined a gym the second week and work out: cardio and weight machines 1 hr 15 minutes 3X week. Prior to that, I was less active cleaning daily and trying to walk for an hour indoors 3 X a week for an hour at a slow pace (Walmart walk) and my job involves about 24 hours of sitting at a computer. It's 100+ degrees the past two months so just too hot to walk outdoors yet.
Here's the issue: I have only lost 1 inch in my neck and 2 pounds.
Am I eating too little? Am I in starvation mode? My diet is focused on high protein and fiber so I do eat whole grain bread twice a day. I am always under on carbs, salt, fat, over on fiber, protein and sugar. I am really organized, patient, focused, but at this point confused as to what I'm doing wrong. Is it what I am eating? Is it what I am not eating? Of course, my husband has been eating what I am and then some... and is losing weight.

It sounds like you might not be eating your exercise calories and/or not eating enough. What calorie goal does MFP give you, and are you way under that every day? If so, you need to try to eat more. Are you set to lose 2 lbs/ week? Maybe try 1 lb/week instead since you have 30 lbs to lose.
Try eating more, by eating back exercise calories if you aren't, and by examining your calorie goal and how far you're under it. The goal is there to meet, not to be under by as much as possible.
Good luck! You've had a super start, so now just tweak your intake and you'll see losses start to happen.0 -
Sorry I cannot help as I am in the same boat as you. I was also told to eat back some of my excersise calories which at first did not sound right to me. But I am going to give it a try. I will let you know if it makes a difference for me. I have 42lbs to lose. I have eated healthy and I excersise like crazy everyday. I have only lost 5 lbs in the past 11.5 weeks. But I do feel really good and starting to feel pretty fit.0

I think I am going to try eating more. I went to a diet center a few years ago when I had been eating 1200 calories a day and doing 45 minutes a day of brisk treadmill walking. I was told I didn't lose any weight because I wasn't eating enough. I thought it may be a sales pitch, but now I am rethinking.
You are pretty! Keep going. I know sooner or later it is going to roll off. This way it won't roll right back on!0
