High blood pressure friends.

I have had high blood pressure for about 4 years now. Been on a few different meds and i am one of them people who think im on meds so i can still eat anything.

Well yesterday i had 6 and a half sandwiches( grilled cheese, tuna, balogna and cheese) 1 whole panini a big bag of cheetos cheesies and 3 liters of coke 0 and today my blood pressure is the worse its been in over 3 years.

I put it all in my diary just to see the salt intake and it was scary just shy of 9500mg.

I have finally had it and will start tracking my macros and weighing my food tomorrow. I am looking to add some friends with or who has had high blood pressure as to get some food and meal ideas.

Thanks

I have low blood pressure and a closed diary, but wanted to say good for you for committing to change :)

New healthy habits take time to form, but stick with it.

DASH diet was recommended by my sisters doctor for high blood pressure. She is having great results and was able to avoid meds completely. She still monitors her blood pressure and finds that the closer she adheres to DASH the better her blood pressure is.
  • Wow !! I am salt sensitive and stay under 1000mg a day. I got a headache just reading your post. Awesome you're going to get it under control. There are awesome FB groups with fantastic recipes. Shakin the salt is a great one. As an added bonus, not eating out and making your own food will definitely help you lose. Food just isn't the same without sodium, sadly. I eat a can of 45mg very low sodium tuna a day👍🏻👍🏻. Best wishes and happy food label reading!
  • There are also DASH diet FB groups!!!

I have hypertension, genetically predisposed, that surfaced first during my pregnancies in my early 20s and sort of came to stay in my early 30s. I'm currently normal weight and still take a low dose daily medication. Sometimes diet and exercise just doesn't cure all, as much as we'd like it to.

That said, I'm hoping to control the factors I can and keep my need for medical intervention as low as possible. I don't purposely limit sodium, but I try to be cognizant of how much my intake is. Cooking and eating at home helps a lot. Hypertension is called the silent killer for a reason. Please don't ignore it (general advice to all  )
