My Medication is Making me Fat

Hi All, I'm here to try and lose the weight (or and least stop the weight) some of my medication is causing me to gain. Since I started this new medication (this year) I have gained 30lbs! Up until now I have changed nothing about my diet and exercise but I guess here is to new things.

    What medication is this? Have you spoken with your treating physician?

    Is this a known side effect?

    I would try to change meds. My birth control and antidepressants did that to me and I switched and now feel like my body isnt working against me. ❤ best wishes

    @shannondcameron6791 , that’s so frustrating! I’ve been in your shoes ☹️.
    I’d talk to your dr , maybe they can help. I took a pain killer for 6 months after surgery, I gained 20 pounds ...... I hope you find help 🌸

    If you are happy with your medication in so far as it is treating the issue and no side effects then the first thing to do to try and lose weight is set up MFP to give you a 1lb per week loss.

    Weigh and measure all your food and log it to see how many calories you are actually eating. Until you know this you can't say for sure that you are not eating too much.

    Eat to the calorie allowance MFP gives you for 4-6 weeks and see if you lose weight. If you do then great keep going. If not then you may need to discuss this with your doctor in regard to whether it is the medication that is causing the problem.
