Starting back up... how to quit starting over?

I was doing so well a few months ago. Was maintaining my 20lb weight loss but I’ve lost the motivation. How do you keep on track especially with the holidays coming up?!

I focus on habits instead of motivation. After the day I’ve had, I can tell you I am definitely not motivated to go home and do one more thing! But at this point, it’s pretty much automatic to pack my food and load up my gym bag for tomorrow, so that’s what I’ll do as soon as I get home. It actually feels a little confusing if I don’t do that. In the same vein, I follow the same guidelines I’ve set up every time I eat out. It just doesn’t occur to me to eat the whole meal and not take half or more of it home with me.
Making my behavior nearly automatic makes it much easier to stay on track!8 -
Agree with habits. Weight loss is a set of things to do. Keep planning, logging and problem solving.
The holidays are a finite number of individual events. Go to maintenance calories for a week if you must. Or invent your own system if you need more calories. I’ve always thought I’m better off planning to go over my numbers by a specific amount if necessary than quitting all together.3 -
Never give up and you won't have to start over. All because there is a lot of food over the holidays doesn't mean you have to over indulge in it. Leave it for someone else that's all. This is my lesson too. Think fit and you will be fit for life.0

I struggle with the very same thing. I was on a two month streak being focused and diligent and then had to travel which interrupted my work out schedule. Everything went downhill after. I’m still trying to get back properly in line; but, I think the trick is to not stop or not let one day or even a couple days be thought of as a “stop” because starting over is so much harder. I think it’s all about being disciplined mentally. Plus think about how much more difficult it will be to lose the weight from scratch if you truly stop. Good luck! You can do it!!2
