Resolving Nutrient Issues

Hi. I used to track and have started again. Here's why I quit last time. It seems impossible to be accurate.
Today I'm planning a meal with Salmon about 250g of it.
I go to add salmon and get a host of entries none of which seem to match, top two are both verified, and both different.
I bar-code scan the product and get some data (C0, F32, P50)
I type in the product name (Kirkland Signature - Atlantic Salmon) and get (C0, F25, P48)
So how do you resolve this yourselves? Using the barcode i'm +100cal. Using the actual product name I'm -100cal.
with this kind of range, there is no way to stay on a macro-plan (or even a calorie plan) and consider it accurate.
Please help.

If you have the package you can go to my foods and create an entry with the appropriate nutrition info2

Using a crowd sourced database requires some work on your end. You need to vet an entry before you use it. If you have a package with nutrition info on it, you are looking for an entry with numbers matching the package. If you have a whole food with no info, you are looking for an entry with numbers that matches the corresponding USDA info. If there's no accurate entry, you can create your own.
Once you've used an accurate entry once, you can often find it in your Recent foods list, assuming you eat it often enough.5 -
Go to the USDA Nutrient Database. Search for a food. Once you find it, enter the number that is in the title into the mfp search. Verify that the info on the search results match the USDA numbers. Over time you'll build up a list of items with the right nutrition info by doing this.3

If the package has nutritional info, use that. You can either create your own entry or correct one of the many incorrect ones.0
