I am wondering if i should put down the calories burned at work?

    If you accounted for an active work lifestyle in your profile, it will take that into account in your base BMR calculation so you shouldn't add it. If you selected "sedentary" in your profile and/or you don't have the same level of work activity every day , then you could add work activities if you wanted.

    I guess it really depends on what you do at work...like if you are a physical laborer, or if you type all day! I am a professional pianist and I practice 2-3 hours a day and the sort of piano work I do is hard physical work for the upper body. I looked that activity up, and discovered I supposedly burn a lot of calories doing it. However, I never count it because if i did, I would not be eating any differently than I was before! The only calories I count are the ones I burn in the my fitness centre, or if I do some dedicated exercise outside (like a fast 30 minute walk).
  • I am down a lighly active but im more an active person at work, so should i really change my settings?

    I am very active on my job but I don't include the calories burned there. My body is quite used to my lifestyle so adding those calories would harm my efforts. I have to do other activities in order to burn enough calories to lose. I hope you understand this.
  • I have changed my settings to "active", dont know if its the correct thing to do but will see how it goes

    I've said that I 'm lightly active (I work at my local hospital on the wards or sitting at my desk on phone/using computer (like now!))...If I have to do extra physical work, I'll add it to my exercise diary. I've been thinking about housework and washing dishes etc as extras, but not currently adding to my exercise diary as these are something I do almost everyday.

  • At work i am on my feet for 8 hours, walking and picking stuff up, i am gonna use my cardio trainer tonight and see how many calories i burn in those 8 hours...

    Even if i dont put them in it cant do any harm really, can it?
  • If you have a tool to estimate your calorie expenditure at work. Is it possible to use it to estimate calories used when cooking and cleaning etc during the time you're not at work?
