How often do you all check your weight on the scale. Do you do it daily or weekly. Which do you feel yields better results for your self esteem when it comes to dieting?

One a week. More than that will drive you crazy with the fluctuations.

I tried to do it weekly for a while, but the anticipation of it all was driving me mad. I'd never feel comfortable because I knew that if I messed up for a whole week, I could put on something like 2kgs and not be able to fix it straight away. I weigh myself every day, but that's because I'm better now at knowing that as long as I'm eating 'well' there's no way that any fluctuation upwards is real. Plus, it's quite nice to start your day off with a new low weight!

I use to do it daily but you get a more accurate reading by doing it once a week at the same time every week. Best is right in the morning, naked, before breakfast :)

I do it daily because my weight doesn't fluctuate in a neat 7-day pattern. I like to see the general downward trend every month and only record my weight every 3-4 weeks.

    Daily x3 I'm part of that madness:smile:
  • Once a week but only record it once a month. I actually have to go to my mom's house to check the scale, if I owned one I would become so obsessed with the numbers.

I do measure myself with a tape measure every morning allowing that to chart my progress.

i weigh daily but only record on thursdays. I track my daily weight on an excel sheet that I have separately so I can compare my calorie intake to my weight...it helped show me that I suck on weekends and really need to get that eating under control.

Once every, or every other day, at the same time each day. It fluctuates so much though, so I try to do it every other! But make sure it's at the same time every day because your body is different weights at certain times of the day, so you'll get a more accurate reading!!

3-4 times a week but I only record on Monday mornings.

Twice a day. The fluctuations don't bother me at all.

Daily, but I'm not obsessed nor do I get dissapointed by the results. I cheack daily because my scale are in the bathroom, in front of the toilette, so I may as well step on them after doing my buisness. I rarely know what day of the week it is as my fiancé does shift work and I stay at home, so doing a regular weekly weigh in would just not work for me, I'd never do it at the same time. Besides, doing it daily is more accurate because I can see what's affecting my weight way more than a weekly weigh in could. For example, Pizza and oda make me hold water weight BADLY, I wouldn't know that if I weighed weekly and one week ate those things the night before and suddenly found no weight loss. That'd be depressing, but to see my scale move up when I'm hitting 1200 net is just as rewarding as seeing it move down because I know that something the day before has put that weight there and I've got a lovely little puzzle to find out what.

AND... for best result weigh in BEFORE breakfast, AFTER exercising, and just before getting in the shower '-)

Every morning after I go pee, then I wait a couple of minutes then I have lost weight from the first weigh in. Then after a shower i sneak up on them exhale all my breath and try again...so I go for the best of 3!!!

But I like to weigh everyday that way I do not get complacent I could not wait a week for sure!

I lost a little this morning and it made me more enthusiastic and when I took my little dog for a walk I was running with him as well as walking and now I hope tomorrow when I weigh that that will have helped some more !

Twice daily (sometimes more), but count the morning weight as my real weight.

Daily. Because if I see a loss it boosts my mood and I'm excited to contiue to follow my exercise and diet guidelines. And if I see a gain it REMINDS me that I have to continue to follow my exercise and diet guidelines lol. Basically it just keeps me on track. I only count what I lose from week to week (Sundays), but I find weighing in daily (in the AM before getting dressed/eating) is a daily reminder of my goals and my path. As long as you don't take the gains negatively with all the fluctuations our bodies are prone to then I don't see an issue.

Every day. I 'like' to start the day with a reminder of what I am doing and why and see how far I have come and how far I have to go. It helps keep me on track and avoid me getting complacent. I only record it weekly(ish) though.

I weigh and measure once a week..... the same day and time every week. Make sure you measure also.... sometimes even though you don't lose lbs, you lose inches!

I have a real obsession with the scales and could be on and off them up to 15 times a day. What the scale says predicts what mood I would be in and what I would eat the rest of the day. My husband was getting concerned the way it was sending me so he has removed the scales and hid them. Im not sure whether to weigh myself at all or just go by my clothes. Not sure if I could cope with the whole cycle again. On the other hand if Im not weighing myself I wont no my progress and I fear it might cause me to relax on the whole weight loss thing.
