Well I read an article recently which stated that there was research done the eating carbs in dinnertime and eating protein and vegetables for bf and lunch gave rise to more weightloss, less bellyfat. The study showed less leptin and increased adiponectin in the blood levels of the study group which promotes weightloss. Any one doing this in mfp experience this.

that is really weird... i would think it would be the opposite because dinner should be you smallest meal because your metabolism slows down. But who knows. I surely don’t.0

I have nothing against carbs. I eat them all day long. I have lost weight and my belly is not a problem area at all. Not sure if what I have experienced with work for you, but it is worth sharing0

Hmmm....I am open to try almost anything. I think the opposite works for me though...protein for break fast/dinner and complex carbs in between. But I'd be curious to know if this is working for someone too.0

lol. This is completely false. Dinner does NOT need to be your smallest meal

I was going to say "that doesn't make sense at all." but it does make sense. There are many processes in the body that help regulate weight, leptin being one. Carbs also trigger cGMP which helps the body repair itself. Sounds great before bed right? wrong... eating carbs before bed lowers growth hormone levels, which will also have a restless sleep to some degree.
There is more con's then pro's in the leptin response at dinner. I am an IFer (Intermittent faster) I don't eat breakfast or lunch, but if you do eat lunch, no reasons why you can't go for the leptin response at lunch time instead of dinner. Keep in mind that carbs trigger the cGMP as I said before, it will make you feel sluggish and tired. I don't recommend eating carbs till the evening, if you choose to eat carbs at all. As I mentioned the down fall of eating them at night... so it's your choice.0 -

This isn't true. Your metaolism stays at practically the same level when you sleep according to current scientific belief.0 -

I know when bodybuilders are tryng to lean out they stay away from carbs a few hours before bedtime, but continue to eat protein up until bedtime. Something about the carbs converting to sugar and fat and the protein feeding the muscle to help spare muscle loss while cutting.
But, I'm not sure if it's as important for the non-bodybuilder-type.0 -

Holy guacamole, this article is intense! Still reading!0 -
I read that leangains article before. As I said in my original post I do IF(intermittent fasting). I used to say that stuff before, what that article talks about, most people thought I was crazy. Glad you posted it.0

wow. so i just took the time to read that entire article. i don't know what to think any more. it seems like for every article you find that says one thing, you can find another that says exactly the opposite. and each article has their own scientific references to back them up. the only thing i know for sure is that ever since i signed up on this website, and started following the very simple recommendations of the default settings, i have lost an average of two pounds per week with very little effort or discomfort on my part.0 -

Here's the secret to all of it. All the studies, all the webpages, they might say things that totally contradictory eachother, but they do all have 1 thing in common, for weight loss you need a caloric deficit. That's it. I know people who got really lean eating 6 times a day, and people who got really lean on IF style of eating.0
