I am having a tough time staying at 1200 calories a day. I am thinking that if I put 1000 max that will help me meet my goals, but anything more than 1200 I just gain. I am only trying to lose 5 pounds and it is hard right now. When I was doing weight watchers I had no problem. Any suggestions on how to stay on track? It is too time consuming trying to do this on my phone every time I eat something.

I exercise so that I can have a more lenient diet. Sure I could go extreme and make everything fresh, but that's not sustainable for me

Try quickly adding the calories per meal/snack in your head. For example: three 300 cal meals and 2-3 snacks of about 100 calories each. That way if you know each "meal" you can have so many calories it will be easier to keep track of. I hear some people have good luck with eating six 200 cal "meals" per day , that way the calories are spread out through out the day and you don't get hungry.
  • I like this format much better because it is a healthier way to eat as far as I am concerned. It is important to eat the right amount of protein, carbs and fat and this site lets me do that. Yes, weight watchers is easier because you track and have a points value, but I would like to stick with this. I appreciate your suggestion though
  • Great idea! I am so used to eating 3 times a day, I think that may be a good change up. Someone else suggested that as well, it is just a matter of changing old habits, which can be hard to do.
  • Hurt my back in December, so I have been restricted to no exercise. I used to do aerobics/strength training 3 times a week, now I am just getting back to walking a mile a day.

You could try doing some exercise so you would have more than 1200 calories to use. 1200 calories does get used fast if you are eating healthy. The program you were on with WW may be the one you need to stay with. Good luck in whatever your decision.
