I do eat a big dinner though.. its just something about night time that makes me feel hungry.. not sure if i really am or if its just a routine i have myself on and cant get off of it =/0

Try finding an activity that you can do at night that will help keep your mind preoccupied.....crosswords, games, facebook...whatever will keep your mind off eating without triggering those cravings.
If that doesn't work, I agree with the other post. Save some calories so that your snacking won't ruin your progress.0 -
What do you have for dinner0
-
Drink a bottle of water when you get a craving!0

I only get like this if I am bored and my mind starts wondering. I just down a liter of water at that point.0

A nice cup of flavored tea really feels me up - apple cinnamon :drinker:0

Oh, I see someone beat me to it. I am also suggesting hot tea!0

hot tea...but if you break that ~bedtime snack~ habit one night its easier the next, and the next one after that, as well!0

GUM!!! It's been my non munchie life saver (or calorie saver)0

I found drinking alot of water helps. I also do more major workouts before dinner, and have a Propel Zero to drink, and leave calories for a snack, I have found Quaker makes a great 90 calorie pack, of some drizzle thingies, they help to satisfy the salty/sweet craving I'm good for having. Skinny Cow also has some yummy sweet treats. Another option, is yogurt, or frozen yogurt, kemps has some great frozen yogurt parfets, individual size, and ice cream as well. Hope it helps. The cravings are hard to fight, but you are strong and can do this!0

I have 1 Tbs of peanut butter.. you know the kind that they make in the store with the machine... no added fats or sugars.. it works for me I also have a diet orange soda to go with it.. OR a little bit of pork rinds they are so dry and they will make you thirsty by the time you drink the water to wash them down with your craving is gone,, and your full0

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! Im not a big hot tea drinker so i will have to try the water! And save lots of calories for the night! The main problem i have is the cravings for either salty or sweet food.. i have to try to go for the healthier snacks and not the bad and that should help a bunch! I have heard the big breakfast thing works! But i am never hungry in the morning.. i dont normally get hungry until late afternoon.. maybe if i eat more during the day i wont be as hungry at night! Ill try out a bunch of things and see what works! Thanks yall!0

I know the feeling... I had a craving earlier and I ate a little bit of popcorn and I went over not calories. Just little over fat, sodium and now I feel guilty...0

I think you are right on that...0

I don't crave salt but i do crave chocolate. So when I do, i drink Chocolate Almond milk. It's found in the baking goods section of the store. It's sweet but contains no sugar! And real yummy!0

I always munch on ice. My favorite texture is pebble ice!!0

I can totally sympathize with you! I have the same problem so I work out so that I can snack later or I save calories for my snack. Try a small apple sliced with 1Tb peanut butter with your water. That is about 300 calories. It will help with the sweet and salty craving and it is packed with fiber so it will fill you up. Or you could have a 100 calorie popcorn -kettle corn flavor with an 8 ounce glass of skim milk, satisfies sweet and salty and very filling with the milk and about 190 calories. You will probably need some water with that after you finish the milk and then you will be full for sure. Good luck!:happy:0

i used to always eat at night, I couldn't help it and when I would eat one snack I would decide that it wasn't what I really wanted so I would try something else. I t was like a compulsion that I had to eat. I got up to almost 300 pounds that way. I gained 40 pounds in one year. i started out changing my habits one at a time, like first istarted walking , i made my self walk every day but sunday, then I started to eat smaller portions and then I started to cut out my night time eating. I would have to say that eating at night has been the hardest thing for me. i keep my freezer full of Kemps fat free frozen yogurt and if I eat anything at night I make it that. With me telling myself i was not going to eat anything at night made me crave it so much more. I would focus on that and even though I wasn't hungry I would eat and eat then regret every bite i took. So Idecided if I am going to snack it wil be a healthy snack. i have lost 51 pounds since mid January and i haven't restricted what I eat because that is when I give up. For the last 8 months I have walked at least 4 miles a day (excuding sundays) and I have changed my way of eating with out actully dieting. If I know that i am going to be eating like chicken wings or pizza i exercise more and maybe just have a salad for lunch for example.
Another thing that i do at night when yogurt isn't going to cut it I will turn on a show and start walking in my living room or do sit ups, or I started making tutus for my 3 daughters, just anything to keep your mind focused on anything but a snack,
i could probably have lost a lot more weight if i would have been dieting all this time but I figure this isn't just a 9 month project its a life change and I am not willing to cut out everything unhealthy so i just modify each day by its self. On day I will reach my goal it might take a while but I will know that I have done it on my own and that is a huge accomplishment for me!
Just keep going find what works for you! The only wrong way is giving up! Good luck!0 -
I would just try making sure the snacky things you have in your kitchen are healthy, in case you do have a craving. I agree with what some other people have said, save a few calories or eat a bigger breakfast. Drink a glass of water, or, sounds funny, but do a few push-ups or crunches and see if you still feel hungry. Playing a game on your computer or something is a great idea too. I have a big problem with nighttime snacking sometimes. Some nights dinner is enough, and some nights I get in this mode where all I think about is food. I will eat like 3 or 4 cheese sticks or something. I know how hard it is. Good luck! You can do it.0

Glad to help! I forgot to add that when all else fails and it is getting too late to eat anything, bush and floss your teeth. I find that after that I will not go through the trouble to do it again.0

I've read and have been told by a nutritionist that usually when you are craving salt/sweets your body is telling you that it is lacking vitamins/nutrients. Since your body is lacking something your body makes you eat more because it thinks that if you eat more you'll get more nutrients. I found that when i started eating more raw vegies I stopped craving. Hope that helps!0
