I can't seem to get this right.
According to my ketone stick this morning, I am producing small amounts and I'm not supposed to be. So that means my body needs more carbs ... BUT ... more carbs spike my blood glucose levels (I have gestational diabetes and am in Insulin at bedtime). I feel like a chemistry experiment gone bad ... between the glucose testing 6 times a day, the Insulin shot at night and peeing on a ketone stick every morning.
I can't find a happy medium between the carbs/glucides, sugar and the ketone level at all. I mostly get negative or trace amounts of ketones and only twice have I seen it turn to the small amount so I guess as long as it isn't consistent it's okay?
I cannot wait to give birth and end this fiasco of testing!!!

Are you drinking a lot of water? You may need to flush the kidneys more.0

I would call a nurse and make sure everything's ok if it's really bothering you.
I am a T2 diabetic and I strive to put my body into ketosis by eating VLC. Kestosis is a fat burning state... so it could be that your body is just directing extra nutrients away from you and toward your baby, which isn't really a bad thing, right?0 -
This definitely sounds like a question for a health care professional.0

Hang in there, you're almost done with your pregnancy. I don't know much about diabetes, but would eating more healthy carbs help if you are having problems with your blood sugar? Best of luck to you0

nope. Carbs are a diabetic's enemy.
Since dropping the carbs, I've gotten off of my insulin pump and metformin.

I have an OB appt on Monday. The Diabetic Clinic isn't open on weekends.
I didn't speak to the nurse there after getting a small amount reading 2 weeks ago and she didn't seem too concerned since it was only one morning and not a consistent thing so I'll see what happens tomorrow and Monday before my appointment.
I know some people TRY to go into Ketosis but apparently I'm not supposed to for whatever reason. I didn't think that having your body burning off fat was a bad thing.0 -
Oh and I do drink enough water every day. It's the only thing I drink so I'm usually at the 10 cup mark by the end of the day.0
