Suger intake exceeding-solution?

I have been tracking my food for a while and i noticed my suger intake is exceeding by around 5g. I usually replace granulated sugar with honey in my recipes. I try to keep overall intake genuinely low. Is there any other option to curb sugar without giving up entirely?

Unless you have a medical issue, there's no reason to worry about it. Sugar is a carb. You're already tracking carbs. I switched out my sugar tracker for fiber years ago.10

Unless you have a medical issue that requires you to limit sugar, my solution is not to worry about it. Your sugar tracking on MFP contains the sugar that is naturally found in fruits, vegetables, and dairy, as well as sugar that is added to foods. As long as it isn't crowding out anything else you need, there's no problem with having a sugar intake that is higher than the recommendation.8

And I would add that you mention replacing granulated sugar with honey, but honey is still sugar, and will add to your sugar number in your diary.
I have never really worried about sugar other than as a curiosity while tracking my intake, and I found that as I focused on getting more protein and fiber into my diet (as they were always low for me) my sugar number eventually settled down below the preset goal on most days.
If you have a medical condition or a family history you are concerned about and would like to eat lower sugar, if you are drinking soda or putting sugar or flavored creamer in coffee & tea, switch to diet soda or sugar subs. Check packaged products like sauces, salad dressings, and flavored yogurts and pick ones lower in sugar. When using recipes for baking, many people find they can add a bit less sugar than the recipe calls for and not ruin the taste.4 -
I'd look at what the sugar is coming from. If from nutrient-dense foods like fruit, veg, and dairy (no added sugar) and you are feeling satisfied and not hungry, I wouldn't worry about it. If you are getting most of it from surprising sources I'd look into it more. If from junk food, well, might be an issue.
Honey is basically the same as added sugar, but hard to imagine it's that high.
At 1200 cal or a similarly low goal, going over by 5 gs is no biggie and could easily be due to some fruit plus a bit of added sugar.
I agree that a better focus, especially if at low cals, is getting sufficient protein and fiber.8 -
Yes. Most of my suger comes from fruits. Initially I thought honey is good, but now I feel I should consider other suger substitutes.I have ordered zero calorie suger and will replace honey with that.
Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts.0
