Hello, MFP friends, I just weighted in and I gained 2 lbs - and I don't understand why!!!!! I just recovered from a month long illness (I pray in JC name that I never go on that journey again!!!). This week I followed my weight watchers and resumed my walking. Before I became ill I would walk 2.50 - 3.00 miles at least 3 - 5 times a week - however, my dr told me to resume slowly this week so I walked 1.00 miles 3 times this week. Now I must admit one night I had a potato chip attack and I purchased a 99 cent bag of chips (not baked) and I ate them in TOTAL DELIGHT!!! to make up for it for dinner I ate 1 lite yogurt mixed with 1 cup of mixed strawberries and cantalope (to my suprise I DIDN'T RETURN TO THE STORE FOR ANOTHER BAG OF CHIPS :-). Also, I drank 3 more bottles of water for a total of 7 bottles (thank God my bathroom adjourns my bedroom). Now my spirit is saying I probably gained because I'm just recovering and my body is confused and it has to balanced itself (whatever the hell that means - I don't know).
Does anyone have any thoughts on this - i need your help!!!!!!!!!

My advice is to add "sodium" to your diary. It will help a lot!0

One bag of potato chips is not gonna cause you to gain 2 lbs. I could be b water/ sodium weight. In either case it's not 2 lbs of fat. Give it a couple of days and it should subside. Hope this helps0

I'm betting it's just water. It amazes me how much weight I gain if my sodium is up. Good luck next week - it will get better!0

i add a ton of weight on (about 5 lb) around day 16 /18 of my cycle just after ovulation! would it be that?0

Could be a number of things, sodium, water retention, or water retention from a change in your exercise routine.
Also, I don't recommend "making up" for a bad choice with too few calories later on. You want to try to eat balanced amounts all day long if possible. If you make a mistake, leave it in the past, and just do better, but still sensibly the next time.
In general for weight loss I recommend eating high fiber, high protein, healthy fats, complex carbs, keep sugar low and drink lots of water.
Keep the treats and "unhealthies" as an occasional something special you have in moderation when the opportunity presents itself.
Above all, be patient, weigh and measure all food and keep logging, no matter what!0 -
Thank you MFP's for your suggestions and support. I didn't think about the sodium - I'm adding immediately. Once again thank you and bless you!!:blushing:0

^this - I started tracking sodium and was SHOCKED how much I was getting - I try to eat as 'clean' as possible now and it's still hard - high sodium in EVERYTHING, I don't know WHY ... we're being preserved?! Anyway, my 1 year goal is to eat more like my grandma - less boxed & processed (high sodium/chemical) crap. My gran made EVERYTHING, even jelly, from scratch. mmmmm - THAT was good food0 -
Yes, you are so CORRECT about the amt of sodium in our food. I added sodium to my tracking and I almost fell out of my chair when I saw the amt of sodium in my almond milk. Thank you for the wonderful advice. Have a blessed and powerful day::flowerforyou:0
