A protein shake is just a supplement to help you hit your protein targets...it's irrelevant to weight management.4

If you feel like you need more protein, it's fine to have a shake before bed, assuming it doesn't bother your stomach or make you have to wake up more often to pee. Log it though, those calories still count. A protein shake isn't going to do anything as far as weight loss, but getting enough protein is certainly important for good health and protecting muscle as you lose. You could also just eat more of the protein foods you like during the day.4

Are you getting enough protein? Are you getting enough calories?
Calories are king for weight loss. Macros (of which protein is one) is for satiety and nutrition.6 -
When you have the protein shake is largely irrelevant.
A shake in the morning = a shake at lunch = a shake before bed.
What was your reason for having the shake before bed?1 -
If you're opting for added protein at night look into casein. It's recommended because it's a slow digesting protein which stimulates protein synthesis overnight.3

I like protein before bed. I get weird dreams and i look forward to it.3

thank you everyone for insightful thoughts. I was initially thinking replacing my dinner with protein, but after reading your comments I have changed my mind. I may do it, if I feel more hungry. However, I will stick normal meal for dinner and meet my nutritional goals.5
