This is kind of a stupid question because I am sure it has been asked before but can someone tell me if I'm supposed to log meat weights before or after cooking? Today I measured out 6 ounces of ground turkey for lunch but after it was cooked it weighed much less. Do I log it as 6 ounces or as the after cooking weight?
THANKSS!!!

The cooked weight...the actual amount that you are consuming.0

I weigh the meat raw and log that. If you measure it after cooking, you have no idea how much moisture/fat has been lost from the meat in comparison to database value. It is much more accurate to go with the weight from before cooking. However, I often use the after cooking weight for when I'm eating something someone else has prepared and I don't know what the original weight was.0
