I am a mammary plastic surgeon so yeah I guess you could say the job comes with two perks at a time

I’m a mental health and dementia nurse so I guess my jobs full of nuts 😆

    • 21 vacay days per year plus the legal holidays (about 10-14 of them, depending on whether they're landing on a weekend or week day)
    • Travel. Lots of travel, in Europe. Both a blessing and a curse really with the absolutely hectic schedule, but you get to see and visit cities (mostly during evenings off or nights).
    • Free nice food when travelling. Really nice food. Really free. Awesome.
    • Travel insurance and quite a great pension contribution
    • Not really a job-specific perk but more national legislation: 1 year off fully-paid (off taxes and contributions which I pay monthly), or 2 years paid 85% of the net salary I'm making, for each child
    • Work laptop is basically mine. No internet restrictions. No control. Well... I control the website and email addresses for everyone. I also invoice. Mwaha.
    • Almost no management. If you're like me, it's a blessing to be able to make your own schedule and just have discussions when you need to, since everything's always deadlines all the time anyway. There is little I hate in this world more than micro-management.
    • Working on something completely different every time, every project.
    • Unlimited Italian espresso

I work 3 miles from home. I get off at 4:30 every day. Flexible when it comes to appointments and stuff. 401k match is pretty good. Holidays off, don't come from my PTO. Christmas break. I have health insurance?

All of this, except the close to home part. I travel over an hour each way.

Windmilling is (now) my hobby, not my profession. Sheesh.

I am retired, so my perks are unlimited and I no longer have to answer texts at 10 o'clock at night.

I get to (loosely) set my own schedule

I would so fail at this. I would never get anything done!

I also get to go to conventions z695v124e8xs.jpg
and usually get freebies at them.

Access to the latest swag. Staff room just got much cooler. Bruh.

In 2017, they changed my job from Salaried to Non-Exempt Salaried. Now I am making about 20% more working the same hours. On top of that, they paid me for all the estimated OT I had worked for the previous 2 years.

That's not all. I don't answer to anyone but the Site Manager. I approve my own vacation time and I approve my own Time Card. But even better, I only have 225 days to Retirement.

After 5 years we get a 4 week vacation bonus to be used on top of our regular vacation. Only catch is that the 4 weeks be taken in succession. It’s a good way to reset. :)
