'Sweet' Alternative to Soda

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had a recipe for a drink that I can drink as an alternative to soda. While I have begun to get a taste for water (somewhat) I still long for something that can give me that tingle of sweetness that soda gives me when I drink it. Any ideas on a drink that can accomplish that but not do so much damage?

try flavored sparkling water (Targets sells some yummy stuff)

or get plain sparkling water, a glass of ice, some heavy cream, and some sugar free syrup for a wicked Italian soda (carb free!)
Really now, what's the name of the drops?

    Probably Mio

Hey mexman1993, I'm not able to use anything with aspartame in it to sweeten my drinks, some allergies are really weird! Anyway, I buy grenadine (they use it to make cherry coke and some other fancy alcholic drink) and I add about a tbsp of it my mineral water, make a modified "italian soda" you get all the benefits of the mineral water, the fizziness of pop and a bit of sweetness, and grenadine is only 45 calories per tbsp, the bottle i have says a serving is 30mL (2 tbsp) at 90 cals per serving. hope that helps!!!!

The newest thing I have found are the MIO drops. I haven't tried them myself but I know some friends who really like them. You should be able to find them with the Crystal Light and Kool-Aid packs.

I agree with the sparkling water, most times they have them is peach, blackberry, strawberry, etc, and they're rarely any calories or sugar in them.

I make sweet tea, but not very much sugar. It's like 12 cups of water and 1/2 cup of sugar and it's just the right amount of sweet.

I too recently started MiO liquid water enhancer. Peach mango and Peach tea are my favorites. And they are great when I'm short on time. But after checking out a Teavana store I started making my own iced tea. I started with flavors Strawberry Lemonade mixed with Blueberry Bliss. I sweeten with their German Rock Sugar which isn't very sweet but I am able to go without the sweetness. The store will let you try various flavors, check them out. I'm tickled to be working in something so healthy but refreshing and satisfying.

I use liquid Stevia drops to sweeten my coffee, tea, etc. I get it at Raley's or Bel Air grocery stores, but you can buy some at a health food store. I used to use Stevia packets, but they didn't dissolve completely in my drinks. Now I sometimes use Truvia because it dissolves just like sugar. I even use it in my cereals, on strawberries, and whatever else I want to have a sweet taste. Just my two cents...
